"Old-time speakeasy" meets "English hunting room" at this "upscale" French Quarter "retro classic" where "refined visitors" "hobnob" over "swanky drinks", including arguably the city's "best martinis" served with "Stilton-stuffed olives" by a "courteous" staff; while wallet-watchers warn it's "too pricey to stay long", "tasty" Contemporary Louisiana fare provides more incentive to linger for a "very romantic evening."

Went there on 7/31/2015. Service is just...weird! There was an Indian lady at the reception, who for some reason, doesn't seem to like Indians!! She just has this most unwelcoming face..no smile whatsoever. The servers just disappear and have to ask them repeatedly to place order. Food is just OK, not out of this world for the price they ask, and I am an Indian, so know how food should taste. It was just bland, spices missing. I ordered the #1 spicy cocktail from their drinks menu and it was soooo watered down! I have had better drinks at those all inclusive resorts in Cancun. What a waste of 12 bucks!
The ambiance, the old gentleman playing piano is very good, no complaints about that. Other things...just so so. I won't be going here again.

They recently changed hands and with that came a really small martini menu, very lack luster drinks as compared to the old ownership and a staff that doesn't hold a candle when compared to the last group. The bartenders though nice really like to flaunt the fact they make everything from scratch and don't use and schnapps, even though a good many great drink use flavored ingredients. This place used to be a hidden gem now its just another run of the mill bar/restaurant.

We used to really love this place, being very frequent travelers to New Orleans we will probably just find some where else and never go back.
