Bon Appetit Cafe, Madison, Wisconsin Restaurant Details

Stopped in for a cappuccino - one of the best I've had in Madison and I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to espresso. The price was higher than l would have preferred, but when I wasn't an occasional treat, this is where I'll be going.

Mediocre food, cranky service, tiny portions, and way too expensive even other things had been good.

Visited on a early Saturday afternoon. Place is cozy, atmosphere classy yet comfy, creative yet accessible menu with reasonable prices. Coffee was very strong and delicious. Had a wonderful Mexican-style hash of potatoes, tomatoes, onions and sausage, with two poached eggs. Fresh, quality ingredients, served very hot, just the right amount of spiciness. There were big chunks of flavorful sausage, with hints of chorizo.

Service was fantastic, the young lady was kind, she kept my coffee and water topped off without asking. During and after the meal we discussed the unique paintings on the walls, which she said the cook painted. Kinda cool.

Overall: a superb brunch dining experience.

My wife and I go here almost every week, and have been doing so for many years. The food is always fantastic, and the menu changes pretty much every day. I have never eaten anything here that I didn't like. They also care strongly about local food, which is a really big plus for us.

Their wine list isn't particularly long but it also rotates very frequently. For the last year or two they have been doing mini wine dinners 1 or 2 times a month in which their wine reps (of which they have 2, from 2 distributors) will come with a variety of wines to match whatever the owner has planned for the night, telling you about each wine as he pours it.

Shockingly, for such a fantastic restaurant, with such good food, it is also very reasonably priced when compared with other restaurants in the area that are on par with it.

I can't say it enough, Bon Appetit Cafe is absolutely wonderful.

It's the first time we went there, and the server was very lovely and smiling all the time. The food was very delicious and healthy! We loved it and it's now become one of our favorites in town!
