I've never written a review for any place before but after eating here I had to help others like myself when searching for a great place to have dinner with your significant other. Hands down its the best NY strip steak I've ever had!!! I did my research online before taking my wife out for dinner & I zeroed in on Ocean Prime (best decision ever). The drinks were great, the lighting & atmosphere were perfect, the service was outstanding & the steak was as I said up top the best I've ever had & I'm a carnivore so ive had my share of aged steaks at numerous top notch places. As with any upscale restaurant the price is about $35-$50 per entrée & I have to say it's the best money I've spent on a premium cut.

The Good:
The restaurant is lovely. The lighting is neither too bright or too dark, but just right. Hostess and waitstaff were very good to excellent. They were featuring an excellent wine and made a recommendation for another when they ran out of the feature.

The Bad:
I found the food to be overdone. Too many ingredients in my beet salad for example. It was underwhelming. I felt like their choices of steak and seafood weren't very good. My entree wasn't exactly what I was looking for.

I think if I returned here and tried some different menu items I could have had a great meal. I was left surprised, and the setting and staff are all excellent. I'd try it again if I were to return to Philadelphia.

My wife and I went for my birthday, February 6 10 p.m. reservation. Due to the fact that we are unable to experience the night life as much as we would like I wanted the evening to really count! I checked the reviews of some of the many supposedly upper echelon chain restaurants as well as other high end restaurants and the reviews were disturbing. The R2L's, the XIX's, Bonefish Grill's, Season 52's, etc.. were ALL LACKING or very inconsistent. Ocean Prime had the highest customer based ratings and the most consistent. It was expensive BUT worth every penny. The hostess making the reservation was on point, did not make any guarantees as they should not but made me feel comfortable with taking a calculated risk when it came to arriving earlier for a later reservation. The table was excellent for my wife and I. I referred to it as one of those "gangster" booths, very plush and made us feel V.I.P. like. We sat upstairs and could see over the entire restaurant. Our server Lauren was fantastic, seasoned, and very patient. We had the last reservation of the evening and you would have never known it; all the way down to the complimentary dessert order and the amazing cappuccino! Thank you Ocean Prime for making our rare outing very memorable! This was written by a current restaurant manager.

I went here with my friends that were visiting in Philadelphia. We made online reservations and we were quickly seated. The dining area is comfortable and well designed and the atmosphere on the weekend was very much alive.
