11/07/2011 9:24 pmWe've had mixed experiences here before, so we return giving the Boot another shot. But after dinner there last week, I doubt we'll be back. Although overall the waitress was friendly, service was slow (even though there were less than a handful of tables occupied) and inconsiderate. We waited so long for our appetizers that we had to call her over and ask what the status was. She spouted something about a computer glitch causing our order to be lost. Hmmm, sign of things to come. When the food finally arrived, the entrees and apps were decent enough. But then we ordered dessert only to get the wrong thing. She confirmed with the kitchen that they were out of the item on the menu and automatically substituted something else. NOT WHAT WE ORDERED. She never offered to comp it. I simply can't recommend this overpriced, pretentious place to anyone. |

07/20/2010 10:13 pmIt was ok. We were very excited about eating here because we heard they use local farmer's produce. The food was very average, not worth the amount we spent on a ribeye (very fatty) and the fried chicken leg. The "pick three cheese" appetizer was very disappointing, they served very tiny slices of cheese. The portions were also smaller, not the usual amount of food you expect for what you're paying for. We love unusual food and trying new places, this place left us wanting more and wishing we had picked somewhere else. |

01/28/2010 8:49 pmAbout 20-25 of us came to celebrate a friends 30th birthday. We were seated at 8pm, finially had our food orders taken at 845pm, food arrived at 10pm. The food was terrible (mine was the vegetarian pasta - squash was raw and everything was cold; chickpea appetizer was awful and everyone commented about how much it smelled). No one asked if everything was okay, we couldn't get drink refills, and when someone at the party went to say something, he was told (by one of the owners) that we were PRIVLEGED to be there. Not to get the poor waitress in trouble - she was assigned a party of 20+ with no help or support - and other tables as well. Not her fault, but definitely not going back. |

02/06/2009 1:02 amMy experience at The Boot was not a good one. Our waitress was too busy with friends to take care our table. In fact, a waiter with an adjoining station pretty much took over service. The trouble was that he did not know what our COMPLETE order consisted of. We only recieved half of our appetizer (the baguettes were missing). We did not get any bread service at all, despite asking twice. Water was brought at the beginning of the meal, as were our glasses of wine, but no more beverages were ever offered or poured. Since we had to wait so long for our appetizer and then meal, we had nothing to drink during our entire entree. I can not comment on the food itself. The service overwhelmed our experience. I do not remember the food as being especially bad, but there was certainly nothing tasty enough to bring our attention away from trying to flag a server down. I left a detailed note for the manager, along with a phone number and a business card, but I never heard from anyone. Also, I returned many months later just to have a drink and the bartender was so rude I left without ordering. There are alot of Italian restaurants, and alot of places to hear live music. I hope The Boot can get it together. |

08/10/2008 3:30 pmSlow food movement. Great local food, great local beer/wine list. People with a vision of a better world, enacting it through providing great Italian food. Fresh, fresh, fresh. Great music too. |
