Highly acclaimed but only so so in flavor. Definitely had better before. Didn't use that much of the expensive ingredients.

This place has some pretty darn good clam chowder; now, I'm not a Boston native, so I wouldn't dare say it's the best, but I really enjoyed it and thought it had great flavor. I got mine in a bread bowl, which was even more delicious; chowder inside a bowl of bread - how can you go wrong there? You can't. You won't be disappointed (well... maybe if you're a Boston native and are rightfully picky on clam chowder).

I'm no expert on clam chowder, but we were told to stop here by two locals and we had a cup. It is delicious, and affordable. We saw many people walking away with bread bowls, and I was envious, but we had a bigger lunch ahead. It's great to grab a bowl and people watch!

I've eaten soup all over Boston and Salem the last 5 days. Ordered their lobster bisque. Tasted like watered down canned soup and was the consistency too. No traces of lobster meat in it. Brought the soup back and asked if I could trade it for the New England clam chowder, the guy that "helped us" was extremely irate and rude. Asked us if there was something wrong with it and if there wasn't something wrong with it suggested that there was something wrong with us.

Terrible service. Terrible soup. Don't waste your time.

I went there on July 18, 2015. I ordered manager's special. It's $18.49. It's lobster sandwich, New England chowder soup and a soda. However, when I paid, it was $2 dollars more than the listed price. I came back and asked the server and he is very very rude. He told me that every lobster price went up by $2 and there is a sign on the next counter(not next to the manager's special sign). If I cannot read, I should not order. The server never mentioned anything when I ordered. The store intentionally concealed information and put the sign away from each other so nobody will find out. It's not an honest business and I will not recommend this store to anyone.
