Bouillabaise is my favorite restaurant downtown. So rare to find a place like this; it reminds me of the Baltimore from my childhood. When I was a kid in the seventies, my grandfather would take me around with him to do errands and we would often stop at these family owned little jewels that were then scattered across the city. His standards were simple but started with great, home-cooked food at good prices. From little breakfast joints to hole in the wall family restaurants, they're now all being replaced by chains and franchises. Sadly, what was once common is now not even known to my kids, except for here.
The place is as friendly as it gets; I was treated like family the first time I stepped in. The food is delicious and well made, with fresh ingredients in generous portions. Four soups that change daily and freshly baked brisket, I mean, man, this is a place that deserves to be discovered. It's easily accessible during a lunch break or worth the couple block detour if you're downtown during the day. It's fun and tasty and extremely affordable.
If you're my age, you'll know what i'm talking about, if you're younger then you'll see a little bit what food used to be like.

My wife and I each got a sub, I got steak and she got chicken. Both were the best we'd had south of Philly, the fries were more than enough for both of us. The soups were also amazing. The service was fast and extremely friendly. I was shocked at how low the prices were. We will definitely be back! Its very small, but don't be fooled, the food is top notch!

A colleague and I ate there for lunch today. We shared a large cheesesteak with provolone the works (including lettuce, tomatoes, sauted onions, olives, touch of hots and mayo). They use real amoroso bread and chip their own top round for the sandwhich. We each had bowl of delicious homemade mexican tortilla soup. With fountain soda's (free refills) tab was less than $15. I would highly recommend the Cafe!
