Brennan's Colony, Cleveland, Ohio Restaurant Details

Food:

Service was lousy. Spent 20 minutes with an empty beer at the bar and nobody asked if I wanted another. No one asked if I wanted anything for 30 minutes. When I said I wanted to pay, I got a bill but when I put down a card the guy went to go wash glasses. I had to explain to them if they did not take my card now I ws walking out not paying. This was all well after the dinner rush. Used to be a favorite, not anymore.

Food:

The busier they are the better the service. But at slow times staff watch tv while customers wait. Nothing beats the jambalaya or any Italian dish. Great blackened tuna steak salad. Good burgers too.

Terrible service. Food is ok but overpriced. Management is clueless.

Very friendly atmosphere. Reasonably good food at very fair/reasobable prices. We go there often.

I am consistently surprised by the inconsistency of Brennan's. As a neighborhood local, I eat here on a regular basis: on the rare occasion, the food and the service are great! However, they can't seem to get both correct at the same time. I've had excellent service with my lobster mac + cheese but, has to send the dish back twice because it was cold! This weekend, the food was awesome (burgers and onion rings) once we got the correct order but, my first two diet cokes were flat and I never saw the waiter again for our entire meal after I had to find him in order to take the 2nd diet coke back and ask for iced tea. I never received a refill for the hour we sat there and we had to ask another server for our check. It's things like this that continue to happen here, over and over.

Their menu, once you get past the typical sandwich is great! I do wish their french fries were fresh cut instead of the typical frozen. I also think they need to work on the presentation of their sandwiches and burgers...at least serve a pickle spear and chips. The pork chop and meatloaf usually ROCK.

The Colony has a relaxed vibe and mixed crowd, which I really like. It also has a wonderful patio for the spring but it has a separate wait from the front of the house and sometimes they play bad music too loudly which really detracts from the bustling family atmosphere.

In general, the inconsistency of the service and food keeps me away but I do turn up when I want to hang out at the neighborhood bar, and have a beer and a burger.
