Great brisket and BBQ. Lots of great drink specials. Casual, laid back place.

I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was good. Total tab came to 13 with a soda. I tipped up to 18 and they charged my card 28. While I want to believe in accidents, I was one of 3 people in the restaurant and there is no excuse for a mistake like that. Won't be giving them a second chance any time soon, too many other (honest) options

Terrrible. I was going to write a long review but simply terrible. First time I stopped by was during opening our with friends from out of town. We were never greeted even though we were the only table so we left after 5 minutes or so. The second time was when I decided to get some dinner by myself. I ordered the blue moon special on Friday and proceeded to order dinner. While enjoying my beer the bartender, who had already taken a easy 5 minutes to say hello brought out my food in a plastic bag and to go box. The man was a mid to early 30s medium built Caucasian male who seemes like he wasn't very interested in being there. I then proceeded to say "this was for here", only for him to say "Let me grab you a plate". Pause. As a former bartender/server I know as hospitality, I bring back the dish into the kitchen and get it prepared the PROPER way. Nope, this fella simply gave me a plate and treated me as a violation to his time. So after about 5 minutes I told him "I don't feel like scraping this all onto my plate, so either give me my check and take this food back or give it to me the right way". He then took it to the back and brought the food out, which was now cold. The brisket was good, don't get me wrong. He then said "I feel like a jackass, so I didn't charge you for your blue moon", thanks.. but if I wanted a free $3 drink I would have stayed home. I then asked for the 2 for 1 special they have on Fridays, any rail mixed drink. I asked for a captain and coke double, short. He then proceeded to explain he couldn't do that but then said he would ask to see if he could. The man came out and said "I would just have to charge you for a double pour on the first one" which I am more than fine with. The night ended there until the following Friday; where I never knew simply asking a question could get you kicked out of a bar. The third and last time I'll ever go the Bartender was man about 5'8" 5'10" brown hair with a short beard. First he completely ignored me when asking for orders from my girlfriend and my best friend. When he came back after they didn't know what they wanted he said "so is anyone here getting alcohol". I simply asked "sir can I please get a cap and coke double short" to which he replied, "No I am not going to do that for you". I returned with the question, "sir, just wondering, the bartender last Friday was able to serve me the drink, why is it different this week?". He said " I said I'm not going to do it for you", to which I inserted "but I got it last week". He then grabbed my menu, looked away and said "I'm not serving you" as he looks at my friend to ask for his drink. My friend was shocked, stating "he was just wondering about the drink bro" to which I said, "I'm just letting you know because I am a former bartender that your bartender last week Friday allowed me to order that specific drink combination". Angrily, the look on his face cringed and said "Dude I'm not serving you" I said "why? I'm asking you a question politely and you're getting mad" to which he expressed in a bickering voice "leave the restaurant, now". I then asked for a Manager to which he confidently asserted "I am the manager". Okay, WELL Mr.Manager.. what the hell is wrong with your attitude? I am asking you a question and you are getting overly aggressive to the point where I felt uncomfortable and like my life was being threatened. You "dude" are the worst, most inhospitable human being I have ever spoken to at any restaurant I have ever been to. I've lived in many places and enjoyed many restaurants because my mother is a chef and taught me to enjoy food. I grew up since I was a 5 year old child in my moms restaurant, yet you have allowed yourself to go far beyond the reaches of what it is to be a grade A disrespectful, incoherent, ignorant, selfish excuse for a human being. I was not drunk, I was buying my girlfriend food and my friend a drink for helping me move into my apartment. You are the reason I have always passed this restaurant and continue to pass this restaurant every single day. What a disgrace.

Brickhouse Barbeque was amazing. We came for lunch and they only had one person working at that time but that didn't seem to affect him one bit! School was out at the time so it helped keep the place a bit emptier than I am sure they would be. Awesome daily specials. Great food and prices. The fires and burgers were bomb! The wings were great as well! Will return when back in Madison. Only downside is there were no dedicated parking spaces as far as I could tell.

The meats and homemade BBQ sauces are very good. The pulled pork and sausage are my favorite. Unfortunately the appetizers aren't very good. The curds are especially bad which is a travesty in Wisconsin.
