The service is lame and stuck up at best... Employees there are more worried about a customers name when ordering, especially when it is not busy. I don't even give cops my ID, as it's not required by law when biking or walking. Yada yada yada.. This place and its blue haired stuck up workers are a joke. Period. Kooks. Overrated bagels. Overrated workers. Try it, you'll like it.

Fremont on Garlic Herb is to die for! I like their coffee as well. They have the best sausage patties.

Best in town. Following the unfortunate acquisition of Kettleman's by that bready bland corporate bagel behemoth of Noah's this place is the last to uphold the standards of decent bagels in this town. It's a good bagel, it's good coffee and it's a good time.

Nice little bagel shop with decent bagels but small selection.

I stopped in here to grab a bagel while waiting for a nearby store to open. The shop itself was small but inviting. The interior seemed to be decorated with signage and other accents which referenced a subway stop. The interior was clean, which is something I always appreciate, though there isn't much seating. If you go when it's busy, don't expect to be able to enjoy your bagel inside.

The staff seemed friendly and made sure that I had everything I needed. They prepared the orders quickly and did a good job of keeping everything running smoothly.

The most disappointing part of my visit was the selection of bagels and schmears, and the actual bagel itself. Was it a bad bagel? No. But it wasn't a fantastic bagel either. I was bummed to see no honey schmear, but every place is different so not a huge deal. There wasn't a huge variety of bagels though, so I ended up with a cinnamon raisin spice bagel with plain schmear.

While it tasted fine, it didn't taste that much different from the standard non-boiled bagels you can get at most places in the Portland area. While this was my first supposed "New York" style bagel, I've been told that the difference between a real bagel and "round bread" is like night and day. This did not seem to me to fall into that category.

All in all if you want a bagel that's good enough and a nice place to enjoy it, Bowery Bagels will suit you just fine.

Finally, a bagel shop that actually knows how to make bagels. The coffee is good. Adequate variety and selection. Awesome service. Clean, small interior. Perfect for a quick bagel fix. Breakfast sandwiches are excellent. As Portland as it gets!
