11/20/2015 8:37 pmA rare combination of a restaurant, bookshop and event space, Busboys and Poets offers a solid menu and activism charm (if that's a thing). I've attended a few talks hosted at this Busboys and Poets and enjoyed the space, especially being able to order a plate of fries to munch on. The restaurant offers a range of vegetarian and vegan options as well as a weekend brunch menu. |

09/29/2015 5:13 pmDefinitely not on par with the location in Brookland. I placed an online order for breakfast & it took 20mins longer than estimated & the place was empty and on top of that my order was wrong. I sat in there for 30mins for a breakfast that takes 15mins to cook. After issuing a complaint I was compensated for my inconvenience. |

09/02/2015 12:15 pmI'm not really sure what all of the hype is about. My husband and I went to Busboy's and Poets for brunch this weekend and were disappointed. While the atmosphere is neat with an airy and eclectic appeal, the noise level was terrible and we felt completely ignored by our waiter for most of the meal. The bigger problem was that both of our orders came out lukewarm and the poached eggs on my dish were improperly cooked (the yolks were not runny). My husband's cubano was just pretty standard. When I told the waiter about my issue, he did offer to get a new order for me. I declined this offer because we had already waited a half-hour for the first order to arrive. Afterward, a manager inquired if my order was "up to my standards" and after listening to my problem, she discounted our bill by 20%. All in all, the food could best be described as adequate and the service was bad. If you want a better version of the type of food Busboys and Poets serves with a nicer atmosphere, I recommend Silo, which is just short distance away down 5th street. |

07/23/2015 9:15 pmIt's a pretty fun place to stop by, but some things on the menu are risky dishes. Stick to Mediterranean and Mexican dishes to ensure that you're going to get an excellent meal. I went with the recommended bread pudding and wasn't disappointed! |

06/18/2015 4:28 amIt's been two days since we ate here and I still can't wrap my brain around the $16 I paid for a vegetarian pasta dish. I only tried it because I thought it must be amazing if it's $16 but it wasn't anything I couldn't throw together in 10 minutes in my own kitchen. Literally it was noodles, olive oil, salt, pepper and a small hand full of veggies, $16? And the taste was just so so. The place was a bit grimy but had a cool vibe. The raspberry sorbet was very good, my wife enjoyed her wrap, but $16 for vegetable pasta? We spent $70 with tip for lunch, two entrees, two sangrias, two bowls of sorbet and a cranberry juice. That's just insane, wouldn't care to go back. |

11/24/2015 5:24 am"Is it a bookstore, a coffee shop, a restaurant or a space for activists to gather?" – it's "all of the above", and there's "never a dull moment" in these "friendly" and "happening" "polyglot hangouts" in the DC area; you can "surf the web" while enjoying "affordable" American-Eclectic fare to suit "pretty much any appetite", "grab drinks" at the bar (full range of caffeine and alcohol), "take in some poetry" or sink into one of the "comfy" chairs in the "funky" settings and talk "politics, books or movies." |
