11/05/2014 10:11 pmThe food was great. The day I visited it was just the owner serving and cooking. The food was well worth the wait. |

08/24/2014 6:39 pmThis place is wonderful. I have been coming to the Smoky Mts for years and finally found the place I will eat at every time. The owner, Duane, is the best. I wasn't expecting to even meet the owner, but I noticed him checking on other customers and speaking with them. He then came to my table and before I knew it, we had been laughing and talking for about 10 minutes. I think catch phrases are dumb personally, but the Cabin Café saying 'you leave as freinds' is actually true. If you are an uppity snob, don't go because they only have great food with a down home atmosphere. There is no velvet rope or maître d, nor any valet parking. If youre just a regular person looking for affordable good food and choose to be around friendly people, I suggest you check it out when youre in the arts and crafts district. To the owner Duane> the Honey Hoagie with Pintos and cornbread, and the quiche are frickin amazing. I WILL be back! |

08/12/2014 2:45 pmArriving at The Cabin with my Mother and myself around 11:30 on Friday, we found the parking area to be covered in muddy pot holes. We had to park on the side near the back door, which was littered with bottles, cans and other debris. We both found it a little disturbing to have so much trash littered on the porch/steps/yard. Just as I was helping my mother out of the car, a man came out of the restaurant (I assume to smoke?) and he did the most disgusting thing ever! He placed one finger on his nose and then blew snot all over the ground. He continued on around a vehicle parked there. At this point I didn't know if were a customer or employee. We went on inside to find all the tables occupied including the ones on the front porch. One table had their food, all other customers were waiting and looking put-out! There were 4 plates of sandwiches sitting up on the counter, I suppose ready for delivery to a table somewhere. Imagine my surprise when the fella I had seen outside blowing snot walked back into the kitchen area! I already knew we were NOT eating there, but I just wanted to see whether or not he would "wash-up" after his nasty display outside. What he did shocked me! He asked if the plates were ready to be taken out to the porch. I then stepped forward and said, excuse me but are you going to wash your hands first, because I saw you do something pretty disgusting in the back! ?? I then put my finger to my nose, so that he would know I saw him. I am pretty sure he knew it anyway! He says, OH yes ma'am that's standard protocol for working here, washing up after breaks! HA! I know he would not have washed up if I had not called it to his attention! NASTY! I don't smoke and I hate cigarettes and I don't want anyone preparing my food who has such poor hygiene! I think this may be the son of the owner lady?? Not sure. But who goes on break with a restaurant full of people waiting for their food? Bad management if you ask me. And to the owner if you are reading this, the employee was the one with tatoos on his arms. Just in case you care! Which I doubt you do. This is probably a son whom you have no control over! Stay away people, this place is nasty! |

06/18/2014 2:21 amThe owner and server were very sweet but the food was over priced and took so long. When we walked in, we asked if there was a long wait(we had reservations in Gatlinburg) and the server assured me that the wait was 15 minutes or less. We ended up waiting for an hour for two sandwiches. Had we known there was going to be an hour long wait for a couple of sandwiches, we would have left and come back at a time when we had more time to kill. Overall, we were fairly disappointed. We literally could have driven to Pigeon Forge, eaten somewhere nice, and driven back for the same price and time spent here. |

07/19/2012 7:19 pmWe were slowly making our way through the Arts & Crafts area when we found this GEM. However, be prepared to wait a bit. Owner, server, cook--all in 1. For just us, we were there over an hour, but we had the time. Apparently, a bunch of people came in before and he was low on food, but he made us some awesome tomato soup and sandwiches. YummY! He also has an interesting story that led him here from NYC. |
