A dining experience for groups who have been here before. My single experience wasn't a satisfactory one.

Service, while enthusiastic, was very slow. My water (no other beverage ordered) was refilled a single time. It was a small glass.

From what I gathered from how I was served, diners are required to grab hold of their server and beg for whatever they need (water, entrees, etc...). I ordered an appetizer and a single pasta dish (single course). My appetizer arrived after a few minutes, and I was left to sit and wait with my empty glass of water. My server went by a few times, but it took quite a while before I was able to flag him down, fed up of waiting. Before I could ask how long my entree would be, he proceeded to tell me that I should let him know when to bring the main dish out. Since I had been done with the appetizer for 15 minutes, I decided to ask him for it immediately.

Food quality wasn't worth the wait (but then, not much would be). I ordered the smoked salmon appetizer and some simple fettuccini alfredo. The salmon was underwhelming, I noticed little if any smoky flavoring. Much the same for the alfredo, which was far more watery than it should have been.

Final thoughts - the restauant seemed to favor mid- to large-sized groups, and slower dining experiences. If it's actually customary to require the customer to ask for everything, then you should probably disregard much of this review; otherwise, mediocre food and poor service made this one of the worst dining experiences I had visiting the San Francisco area.

On vacation from the east coast where Italian food is very popular. This place comes nowhere near even the most mediocre of places. Sauce on spaghetti and meatballs tasted like some sort of gravy, bread was stale, and oil and vinegar for the salad was delivered to the table in actual oil and vinegar bottles clearly plucked straight from the pantry. Won't be back to San Francisco anytime soon, but wouldn't recommend this place to anybody who has ever had real Italian food.
