I think that Cafe 2825 is way overrated on all the review sites. Been to many Italian restaurants and this one was nothing to stand out. They had a nie wine bar and that was about it.

We visited for a friends birthday along with our kid, 9, 2, and 2. On the phone we were told that Cafe 2825 was child friendly and this was not the case when we arrived. No highchairs and only one booster seat. Luckily we had a corner seat and was able to keep the kids entertained in the corner.

The server was just ok and we were approached by who we think was the owner of Cafe 2825 but he never formerly introduced himself. He asked a bunch of questions about have we been there before, why we were in, and some other questions that were just honestly a bit over the top and annoying.

The children has chicken tenders which were very good and homemade and also had a penne pasta bowl which was just ok.

The bread on the table with the oil was a nice starter, and the house pinot gris was good too. We started with calamari appetizer which was clearly frozen and out of a bag and were not good at all.

For dinner my wife had penne pasta too which looked different than my sons, which was odd, I had the white clam sauce with pasta which I thought was very good but nothing that stood out, so did my friend, and the other entree was a special ordered shrimp parm -- which was also good but nothing to rave about. The did four butterflied individual shrimp that were each parm style.

Again all the food was ok -- but nothing that I would have to run back for or recommend to others. Dessert was pretty good which was an Italian cheesecake that we were told was made in house with a bit of a lemon zing to it -- and nothing done for the birthday girl either not even a song,

As mention in the first part of the review I think many of the reviews are just over rated and I would look elsewhere -- especially when dining with kids.

Great meal with great service. A hidden gem that rises above the rest in this highly competitive market. A menu that takes you to another place. Several items offered that I only see while traveling through Europe. You won't be disappointed.

Living in New York, I always make plans to eat at Cafe 2825 whenever Im in the Atlantic City area. Recommending the restaurant to anyone looking for great Italian food, I would from time to time hear.."You have to try Chef Vola's for the ultimate Italian meal…Well my wife and I recently tried Chef Vola's and I have to say that comparing these two restaurants is like comparing a Bentley to a Cadillac. Chef Vola's while ok can't hold a candle to Cafe 2825. 2825 serves coal oven baked breads brought directly in from Brooklyn while "Vola's serves an italian bread that anyone can get from any local pizzeria. The Veal Parmigiana is far more tender (at Cafe 2825) and the angel hair pasta literally melts in your mouth while the pastas at Vola tastes no better than something that came out of the box. To top it off, Cafe 2825 is much more elegant inside (both restaurants are small) as Volas is cramped and uncomfortable. Oh yeah full bar at Cafe 2825 while Volas is a BYOB establishment.. These places shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence..

Beautiful atmosphere and delicious food. The owner sat down with us and recommended delicious dishes based on what we said we liked. All in all a great experience with some of the best food and service I have ever had.

We came here on a Wednesday evening in late Feb (ie off night, off season). There were about 4 tables. The funny thing was that we called twice to make reservation before coming but both times no one answered the phone!

Anyways, we had the artichoke appetitizer $15, sorrentino (sort of like Veal Parmesan $26 and mushroom parpadelle $21. The first two dishes were quite good but I had to send back the parpadelle as it was too salty. Joe popped by to chat and that was a nice touch. Desserts were $9 but we skipped it.

A don't-miss option in Atlantic City, this nice Italian place offers good-sized portions of delicious home cooking for pricey-but-worth-it tabs (devotees don't care what it costs); since the setup is small and tight, be sure to make reservations in advance.
