Thought it was super cute the first time we stopped in. Just took my mother who's in town for some holiday shopping because I had told her how much I liked it... And we sat and waited forever without the waitress ever once acknowledging us. She seemed busy/flustered but that's unacceptable. Got a table immediately at a nicer restaurant two doors down.

Do not eat here....delivery took about 2 hours and the food taste like a microwaveable dinner. Had to call back 5+ times for them to remember our order.

Go elsewhere.

The staff are great! The food is plentiful and tasty.. I find the sauce a little spicy - but continue to go back as it is good.. Just used to a sweeter red sauce. The waitress' keep me coming back as much as the food! My grandchildren love the shrimp fettuccine!

I found out out about Cafe Al Dente after asking my KC friends on Twitter to recommend a restaurant with a patio that was casual. The staff were friendly and the patio allowed for lots of people watching as well as hanging out with patrons. I had the Caprese Salad which was delicious. My husband had the Shrimp Alfredo. Our bill was less than $30. For good home-cooked Italian food and great company on a patio, make your way to Cafe Al Dente.

The single star feels generous after dining at Cafe Al Dente for the first and final time last night. It would've been faster and cheaper to have been mugged in the parking lot. Ordered drinks, an appetizer and two entrees, one drink was spilled accidentally, and the appetizer took forty minutes-just seconds before the entrees arrived (which defeated the point of ordering an appetizer). Service was slow if it was there at all.

After two bites into the chicken parmesan found it's watery sauce wasn't seasoned AT ALL. The sauce didn't have garlic, oregano or even pepper. The chicken on top was fried and soggy. It looked like moss, or 70's shag carpet, and could be peeled away from the bowtie noodle swamp below in one sheet. Peeling the chicken back and attempting to use the table's pepper and parmesan did nothing to help the bland chicken and tin tinged tomato soup of sauce.

Tried to find our server to see if this could be rectified and ended up going to the bar. The server showed up after a few minutes of trying to explain the plate of disappointment and said that because of the spilled drink (which was not comped nor requested to be comped) and the attempt to season the meal table-side, the flavor of the meal was the fault of our own taste buds. To quote the server/owner, "It isn't our fault she doesn't like the food."

Despite vanishing for 45 minutes to an hour during the flavorless catastrophe, the server miraculously reappeared 15-20 minutes after our complaint (waiting with coats on) to deliver the check and asked if a take out box was necessary- as the meals were LARGELY untouched. The reply was a resounding NO. The server then questioned the new $100 which has a holographic stripe down the middle as a fake and almost pocketed it as a "counterfeit".

Almost two hours and $40 wasted on a meal that wasn't eaten. Save your money, save your evening, head ANYWHERE else but Al Dente's.
