Cafe Metro, Brooklyn, New York Restaurant Details

When I first began working in the Metrotech area, my only exposure to Cafe Metro, was the store near Grand Central. My experience at that store has been nothing but good. However, my experience at the Cafe Metro restaurant in Metrotech Brooklyn, has not been good. Since last July, I have been a loyal customer, and recently have been using their online ordering system. There have been issues with food ordered not being correct in the past, including slow service, and poor attitudes but I continue to give another chance. Today, I ordered food (2 scrambled eggs, potatoes and toast) online at 8:59am, with a guaranteed ready time of 9:30am (per their website). I arrived at 9:35am and walked to the Online Pickup line, greeted the register clerk (Christine) and waited patiently while she helped the others on the regular order line. After a few minutes I asked Christine if I had an order waiting to be picked up. She looked at me and said no, and that for online orders 'stand over there, don't stand here'. What? I entered Cafe Metro, saw the sign where to stand, stood under the sign next to the register, like I've done countless times before, waited while Christine smiled and said hello, but then nothing. Only after asking if my food was ready does she tell me where to go. OK, no problem, so then I go there and wait while others are being waited on, and then my turn. I ask for my food, only to be told that it's not ready yet. I finally leave the store at 9:49 am with my freshly made breakfast, almost 1 hour after I ordered.

I have had issues with Cafe Metro in the past, but have continually given the Metrotech store the benefit of the doubt. I loved the option to order online, and the food is great, but this will be my last time due to service. I am very disappointed and will tell others to stay far far away.

For the past few months, I have been ordering online for delivery only. Why? Well Cafe Metro is the only local restaurant to carry turkey bacon, and I don't eat pork so one hungry morning I decided to give CM another go. For the past 5 orders, my orders have been correct, and delivered in a timely manner. I ordered breakfast today, an omelette, and they called me to verify if I wanted both coffee and tea (since one or the other came with the meal). I thought this was very good service. My egg, onion, tomato and cheese omelette arrived without the tomato, but I am not inclined to stop ordering online for delivery only because of the mistake. My previous review stands with ordering online for pickup, but for now I am a returning customer.

Chicken Par is awesome! I crave and go for their chicken par at least once a week.

Coffee isn't good. Food is way overpriced, but there are not many options in metro tech.

Food is decent, but beware of the cheese. For some odd reason every order that has had a high amount of dairy in it has caused food poisoning for myself and my friends. Salads are fine, not a great variety of vegetarian friendly sandwiches, but there are not a ton of veggie options near MetroTech anyhow so this is sort of the best of the rest if you know what I mean.

Ordered online for a 1 PM pickup. for over 30 minutes the staff said my order would be ready in a few minutes, after 30 minutes I asked for the manager who said they lost my order. the worst service.
