As i was grabbing a seat, the Waiter or rather manger comes up and asks me if im by myself. I say yes. He then tells me to sit at their bar. "i have a laptop."
-- him: "we don't do laptops on the dining tables".

Its none of your business where i want to sit and whether i will work with a laptop or not. By the way, the dining tables were empty.

cafe minerva has a wine list of 10 reds/10 whites for 20$ a bottle -- not a bad deal if you are looking to share with a friend. the atmosphere is unpretentious and warm.

One star, and because I can not give them a 0.

A place/coffe/restaurant/bar should never treaty the clients like they do. If I would be the owner I WOULD FIRE THEM ALL (not kidding).

I went to this place with my girlfriend because it look good from the exterior and she wanted to have a coffee. We sat on the bar, we order a latte, and they gave us the late with no spoon or either a plate underneath.

What it comes now is just DISGUSTING.

We asked another guy for a plate and a spoon, and he gave us a spoon, he grabbed a plate from a used cup (dirty obviously) and in front of us, he wiped with a rug and put gave it to us.

We asked again, do you have a clean plate?

And his reaction was grab the plate, wipe it again with the same rug, and returned to us saying in a very disgusting way "clean enough?".

We left, we didn't drink the coffee, and I won't come back.

Anytime I got to work from home when I lived in the West Village this was one of my two spots. During the day it is well lit, calm and a friendly and happy environment. It is not cheap as their yogurt parfait and latte probably cost me more than $13, but it was worth it to spend the majority of my day in peace there. Besides the free wifi and outlets, the space is beautifully designed.

Partially hidden in the small, narrow streets of the West Village, Cafe Minerva is a great restaurant that attracts a local crowd as well as numerous loyal patrons. My friends rave about this cafe for its good food as well as $20 bottle of wines, which you can choose from a list of 20. The malbec wine was surprisingly smooth and tasty. For dinner, the pasta dishes are a modest but good sized portion and also delicious. The paninis are also a good choice. Prices are very reasonable with paninins at $8 and pasta dishes at $14. The service was great, with our waitress checking on us often to see if we needed water, wine, or more food. All in all, this was a great find and I definitely will be returning with more friends.
