Cagney's Restaurant & Ice Cream Parlor, Norfolk, Virginia Restaurant Details

Food:

wonderful food up til 3 weeks ago. 1st meal: luke warm raw "medium" cagney burger, with enough salt to choke a camel. 2nd meal: 1/2 lb steam shrimp, no butter, just yellow oil and frozen solid cocktail sauce, no Old Bay seasoning on the shrimp, and the entire plate coated in green flakes (basil? as a garnish??? stunk like old dirty socks). 3rd meal: cagneys spaghetti w/meat sauce. another old underwear reeker. not too retchingly bad, once you scraped all the green flakes off. absolutely wonderful wait staff, but the afternoon cooks need firing, or a strip club may be opening at this location Really Soon.
UPDATE: they went under. Jose Tequila is now there. music's too loud, but the food is good, and prices right. great staff!

Food:

It's a shame how far this place has slid. The food is average but the service has dropped to poor. I sat at the bar and the young pregnant waitress serving me seemed to be letting the hormones get the better of her. She was talking to me over her shoulder and I had to order twice because she didn't listen to me. Well try facing your customers when you're talking to them? Then she served half my meal 5 minutes before the rest was ready. That one's on the back of the house. Get it together folks.

In 2011 I wrote: I work in Norfolk from out of town about 3 days a week and frequent Cagney's. The prices are right, the service friendly and the chef's are very attentive to their work. You can tell they prepare it as if they are going to eat it. I have not had anything here that I was unhappy with. I recommend the meatloaf or the tilapia.

Food:

Worse than terrible,every single thing was wrong from getting the wrong food until getting the wrong check twice second time by the manager. extremely long wait for restaurant being 20% full also found out the waitress was talking about us in the ladies room after I had talked to the manager. (I can't believe she would say anything with someone she didn't know in the ladies room who happened to be in our party) but thats how much attention was paid to our table!!! I am not going to list every mishap, let me just say it was everything.

Food:

My husband and I went to Cagney's last night... Was the worst experience I've ever had!!! We arrive around 7ish. The waitress that come to the door says to us... "Thank GOD you guys came in before that family I hate waiting on kids" now mind you I have 3 kids but we did not have them this evening. I just looked at her weird, she showed us to our table. We then ordered some drinks. We needed a minute or two to look at the menu. We have never been here before. She then returns with our drinks. We order some wings. A few minutes later she comes back again and says have ya'll decided we said no she then says " oh good I have to pee"!!!! Are you serious... I'm so thankful that I had already started eating my wings that she did not bring to us. At that point I told my husband to get the bill. I left I could not believe that she said that to us. I was grossed out and I would NEVER go back to your business!!!!

Food:

I hate to speak poorly about any restaurant in the area, but honestly, I wish I had known how bad the food was BEFORE we actually went. Of course we never would have gone, but anyway lol. My Mother and I went in for breakfast one morning and the food wasn't just 'poor/fair'....it was downright AWFUL. The eggs were not 'real' eggs and they were very cold on the plate. The toast was soggy (so not appetizing)...and the ONLY good thing were the sausage links. The decor in the restaurant is very cute, and the place looks inviting on the outside. But PLEASE take my advice.....dont waste your money if you're looking for a good meal. Unfortunately you wont find it here. Sorry Cagney's. :-(
