The only reason why I grudgingly ranked them with "one star" was because of the live band. Otherwise, here's why I do not recommend this spot! It took 2-hrs before a crumb even hit our table...and that was only because I had a fit with our waiter. From there our food came out cold (and that took at least 2 1/2 hrs). Now, you're probably asking why we stayed... Well we had an 8:30 reservation, so by the time we realized how much time had gone by we assumed most kitchens would be closing soon. Needless to say, by the end of the night the manager apologized profusely and extended $50 gift certificates to our table. Still unacceptable!

This was the worst brunch experience I have ever had (and I have been to many brunches in DC). I bought a KGB deal with a friend for brunch and mimosas. I realized after we bought the coupons that in the fine print said only one deal could be used at a time at a table. I called and talked to an employee and he assured me this was a mistake and that all parties at the table could use the deal. I made a reservation and when my friend and I arrived and were seated, we waited 15 minutes with no service so I had to get up and ask for someone to come over to our table. We ordered and presented the deal and the waiter is telling us that one one person is able to use the voucher. I ended up speaking with the manager and I explained to him I called prior and he basically told me I was lying. I asked him to make an exception since there was just two of us and got pretty rude at this point and told me that one of us was going to have to purchase the $25 brunch. I told him this was ridiculous, we had ALREADY PAID for the brunch through purchasing the deal. I just couldn't believe he would accommodate us so the last thing I was going to do was pay them for two meals after being treated in such a manner. So, we got up and left. I am getting my money back from KBG and not only will I never visit this place again, I will warn anyone else not to go there. I actually told the people waiting on my way out that this place is horrible and they should also leave. The point of these coupon deals is to get people into your business so they love it and come back, now because of their rude actions they lost a few customers and I hope a few more they read this post. CHOOSE SOMEWHERE ELSE THIS PLACE IS HORRID.

I'm from Baton Rouge, LA and the food here is pretty darn similar. The ettouffee is legit in taste being almost exactly like home. The drinks are amazing and the beneigts are spot on. You'll not find a better cajun restaurant around DC. Do yourself a favor and get some gator bites and if you don't like the sauce they provide ask for some romalaude.

The atmosphere on the patio reminds me of a small mom and pop place anywhere in Louisiana as well with the mid-range fencing holding everyone in and it not looking too fancy.

The random bands they have for blues/jazz etc are really great as well.

Having lived in New Orleans and loving cajun creole food, I was excited to see The Cajun Experience open. The food, though, was a disappointment. The gumbo was flavorless and thin, and the muffaletta was not as robust as the original. Service was amateur and they charged my debit card twice. The ambience appeared basic and homespun. I don't expect to return.
