The banh mi here is really good. They fill the bread with lots of meat, veggies, and there's also cucumber (which is not standard at all banh mi places). I had the barbecue pork and the meat was nicely sliced and moist. The bread is nooooot the best I've had.. very flaky. I'm actually one of those people that like bread very crunchy. But I think overall the sandwiches are very good.

I would also recommend the avocado smoothie, if you like avocado. The avocado taste is rich. It is the perfect balance of sweet and icy.

Best Banh Mi bang-for-your-buck anywhere. If the lines aren't enough of an indication, this hole-in-the-wall in Oakland's Chinatown has hit the sweet spot of quality and value. For $3-$4 you get a great sandwich, of decent size, that is as good as others costing twice as much. East numbered menu for ordering. CASH ONLY, so come prepared.

I heart banh mi. This place has a huge selection of banh mi options. It almost seems bigger than the banh mi menu at Lee's sandwiches, the big banh mi chain. This place definitely has better tasting banh mis than Lee's. They also have pate chaud (meat filled puff pastry) here! Holla! A banh mi and pate chaud together make my stomach super happy.

This review is solely for the Banh Mi sandwiches. With that said, all I have to say is....THEY ARE THE BEST in the East Bay. The bread is perfect, the pickled veggies are just right and the meat....perfect. The roast chicken is my go to joint, but all the sandwiches are definitely on point! I've been going here for over 20 yrs and its been as good as the first time I've had it.
