Campanellos' Italian Restaurant, Cincinnati, Ohio Restaurant Details

Food:

We walked in stood around for 10 minutes. Nobody ever said a single word to us. We watched as an employee stacked dirty dishes up onto the bar. We saw 4 or 5 different people who worked there and no one said a word. We decided to just give up since it seemed like maybe we had become invisible and we should go abuse our new super powers. Maybe the food is good, but I'll never know.

Service was okay, but the food was awful and the place was messy.

The food was worse than high school cafeteria food. At least there the meat sauce had some sort of taste and the noodles didn't taste like they sat in the water they were boiled in for 5 hours. I had the spaghetti and my date had the Mostaccioli, both of which were bland and unappealing. Are food wasn't hot when it came out and it appeared as though they just opened up a can of meat sauce and poured it over the top of our dishes.

The service from the waitress was the only redeeming quality and even then she could be working in a better place and get tipped better.

I haven't felt uncomfortable in a restaurant in a really long time.
On their website, they have a buy one get one free special posted.
We asked if this was still valid. Our server said he would have to check.
He returned and said, yes, It was Buy One Get One Free.
Then the chef/owner comes out of nowhere and says "this isn't the thrift store" and that is buy one, get one half off.
We order........and received random food. I'm vegetarian and received a chicken alfredo because ithe was "assumed" I wanted it. My sister got some random pasta dish. Food was gross, lackluster at best. We saw the chef/owner tasting desserts with the serving spoon and serving the desert with the same spoon.
Out check was $20, which was not based on menu pricing. After paying, the chef/owner comes over and said he "credited" $8 (random) amount to the food order. Not sure how he "credited" us but needless to say we ran out of there. Would not return.

I needed to set up a rehearsal dinner for my son's wedding in Cincinnati... from 500 miles away. I chose Campanello's based solely on online reviews and its proximity to the hotel. I worked with the owner, Mary Ann Campanello, over the phone and we set up menu selections and a price, and she took care of everything. When we got there a few hours early on the day of the dinner, everything was ready, and when it started raining, the cook even loaned us his umbrella to use on the walk back to the hotel. Dinner there that night went smoothly and was great! There were 24 of us, the food was tremendous, the drinks flowed freely, the staff was informal and helpful, and everyone left sated and happy. I would heartily recommend Campanello's!
