05/16/2013 7:41 pmThis place was one of the weirdest places I've ever been. The decor had absolutely nothing to do with Mexican food or Mexico. It was like a mini Haussner's with paintings hanging everywhere. The waitress spoke absolutely no English at all. I mean other than the items on the menu, it was impossible to communicate with her, because I don't speak Spanish. We had to try three times to get a beer that they weren't out of. The only soda they had was Coke. But, the food was nothing short of excellent. Large portions, very spicy, and very good. The black beans were sublime. All the ingredients were fresh, and everything was spicy hot. I went there with three other people and all of us really enjoyed our meal. At the end of the meal, we spoke to the owner and he was just the nicest guy. I get what all these other reviewers are saying because if you're looking for a generic, chain restaurant, Don Pablo's kind of experience this is not the place for you. But if you're looking for a quirky, different kind of experience that you could only get in Balwmer, then Carolina's is an absolute must. |

02/22/2012 2:20 amTried to use our TravelZoo coupon at Carolina Tex-Mex recently. When my friend called to make a reservation, we were told there was no problem if 4 people sat together and each couple used a coupon. When we went in "Pedro" told us that we could either all sit together and use only 1 coupon or "leave" since we had only made 1 reservation! He would NOT accept a new "reservation" even though only 2 tables were occupied and it was only 5pm. We left and contacted TravelZoo, who refunded our money. I will NEVER go back there. |

02/15/2012 3:26 amI didn't eat here, either, because they also failed to honor our travelzoo voucher, although they told us it was because of Valentine's day. Nowhere on the coupon or in the terms I read online does it say they can do this. I plan to contact the Better Business Bureau. |
