03/07/2014 5:35 pmThe chicken tacos were good. The yuka...not so much. I love Sylvestre's in MD and the Peruvio Pollo place in VA..and I LOVE their yuka. The yuka that is at this place was not cooked properly. Its white! sometimes even mushy. Yuka should be cooked till its brown with a skin similar to a french fry easy to pick up and put in your mouth. |

12/31/2012 3:21 ami posted on yelp but they kept taking my post down. this place is awful. they price discriminate. they have two menus, one for latinos and one for gringos. the gringo menu is a ripoff. you must ask how much a plate is because it varies depending on who you are. i would never go back there in a million years. |

03/23/2012 12:49 amApparently this place has cleaned up its act and is now one of the best places in the Downtown area to get a good meal at an inexpensive price! I'm from Texas, so you can imagine the "sticker shock" I experienced when visiting DC. Everything is way overpriced! So I did a lot of searching around to find a restaurant that wouldn't gouge me too bad and served more than pizza or sandwiches. Stumbled across this place and couldn't be happier. Yes, the ambiance looks more like a hole-in-the-wall pizza place, but the food is amazing. And I know what good Mexican food should taste like, being from Texas. They had traditional Mexican dishes (burrito plate $8, combo fajitas $14, chimichanga plate $9) but also seemed to have some Peruvian specialties, which we did not try. They serve black beans instead of refried, by the way. The salsa is a bit on the spicy/peppery side, but that didn't stop us from devouring it. Serving size was more than adequate to fill the average tummy! Wait staff was attentive as well, Everything was great and I will definitely return! I really suggest checking it out, especially when you're tired of spending $30 on a greasy hamburger plate! |
