Food was just ok, nothing special. Typical generic Mexican food. The cops and queso was good. Service was kind of slow.

My family has been coming here for about 18 years. We live in Dallas and visit San Antonio at least once a year. We ALWAYS make it a point to eat at CASA RIO. The food is always amazing...the salsa and chips and red enchiladas are my favorite. The drinks are great. The location is close to everything. We love eating outside next to the river walk. The service is okay....not terrible, but nothing to write home about....the only thing i hate is the long wait to be seated but we always show up on a Saturday night, when the river walk is at its busiest.
We have already made plans to eat at CASA RIO in 3 weeks when we visit San Antonio for my daughter's graduation....it's a family tradition!

My experience at Casa Rio was definitely unforgettable, and not in the good way. I've been sitting on my toilet for the past 3 hours and not to mention the 5 times where I visited the restroom there too. So let me start off by telling you the appetizers, first off, you are welcomed with "fresh salsa" that has more water in it than Shrek's swamp and stale chips. Then, you are offered with some Sierra Mist aka peasant Sprite or you can get some ozarka water (tap water). Also, not to mention that by the time I arrived at this "restaurant " my ice had already melted, so no need to get me water. Next, the salad I was given had no taste to it, literally all they did was cut up some tomatoes, throw it on the plate amd call it Pico de Gallo. After this outstanding salad I was welcomed with my taco, yeah pretty much all they did was combined the stale chips into a shell, take my "salad" and combine them into one whole pile of garbage. Oh yeah, and don't even try to get their enchiladas, this trash is a red tortilla with Kraft cheese melted on it. I would rather fish out of the riverwalk and eat whatever I caught, smh, oh yeah and I'm still on the toilet.

We happened to be in SA and wanted to spend a little while along the Riverwalk.

The food was not good quality at all. The fried item we had was clearly cooked in overused, old oil. Everything was run-of-the-mill, at best. The food was among the worst we have had at Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurants.

The saving grace is our server was quick and courteous. The food came out after a reasonable time. We like the technology on our mobile phones about our wait and the checkout on a tablet. We later got a request for a rating through their software, and they got a 2-start on that, as well.

If this restaurant were not where it is, it would die a quick death. Don't buy the hype. Realize you are paying for the atmosphere, and they evidently don't have enough incentive to make their food live up to their location.

Got seated quickly. Took 5 minutes for our waitress to come up and ask for drinks. Then after another 5 minutes we saw another family come in and their drink order was taken right away. A few minutes later we saw them get their chips and salsa. Meanwhile we still hadn't received our drinks or chips and salsa! We complained to a nearby waiter who walked off to fix the situation. Two minutes later, we still hadn't seen either him or the waitress that took our drink orders so we left. Completely unacceptable for any restaurant.
