I cannot fathom how this has 4.4 stars. This place is old school, and the food is made like a 50's-60's burger joint. That's the appeal. I am a big man and ordered 2 cheeseburgers and fries. The quality of the meat was so awful that despite my intense hunger, I refused to come close to finishing my burgers. If you knew me, you'd know that this is extremely out of my character. These burgers tasted like pink slime burgers from the cafeteria of an average public middle school, or the boxes of frozen burgers from the wholesale clubs. Not quality. You'd be better off going to Cook Out and that is saying a lot. This is the 3rd locally famous restaurant in Raleigh that I simply cannot believe how overrated it is. Beware of Raleigh Restaurant fan boys if you have chiseled tastes.

First time here. Like a time warp back to 1960s. Had the double meat Charburger with tomato, catsup, and lettuce and a Pepsi. Was a great burger, wasn't thrilled with the smoke filling the inside dining area but I guess that goes with the wayback feel.

It's essentially a fast food place with no drive thru. The food is good but I find the booth to be a bit gimmicky and a replacement for any sort of service.

Been eating at Char Grill for more than 20 years. Was glad to have this one close to home and work on Strickland. The burgers are consistently great year after year. No compromises in the beef quality and you can have it your way. If you order the Steak Jr., be prepared for the rectangular bun. Char burger is a great value and the BBQ is also good. The shakes are absolutely the thickest possible and consistently good. Good and consistent with a great sanitation score. Can't beat that.
