06/28/2016 8:54 pmExcellent European fare draws fans to this Midtown stalwart serving a range of Continental cuisines including Transylvanian specialties and some wonderful German options that you can't get anywhere else in Houston; it may be in a bland strip center, but it's quiet with a refined ambiance, though some suggest the staid decor could be updated. |

04/08/2016 8:02 pmI don't know of another place in Houston with quite the comparable style of European cuisine. Chef Johann Schuster was born in Transylvania, Romania, and his wife is from Germany, so there are many different European influences in their offerings. My favorite time to go is lunch, and on Mondays for their lunch special of Vienna-style meatloaf with pan fried quail egg, sautéed green beans & mashed potatoes. Their daily lunch special is just $9.99, with soup and a main course. They also offer a Business Lunch special for $15.50, consisting of a salad, main course and dessert. |

03/20/2016 5:07 amSaturday night the place was empty, should of been my first clue. The food and ambience was confusing. The food was a hodgepodge of ingredients put together and the theme of the menu made no sense. The ambience with the dated decor had nothing to offer. Disappointing place. |

12/26/2015 12:21 amWe took our neighbor today. Yes on Christmas day. The duck was excellent, lobster bisque some of the best ever. Service was fantastic. Thank you to all at Charivari Restaurant for helping make our Christmas a Christmas to remember with such excellent food. We were all very full when we left, and two of us are Texas size. Food portions were plenty. Even had some left overs to bring home.Service was friendly and fast, and we were not rushed out after we finished our meal. |

10/31/2015 1:45 amBy far the best dinner in Houston (that we've tried so far)! Formal, yet casual I spends months fantasizing about the wild boar served each fall/winter season. (Update: wild boar chop just added to the permanent menu!!) This is one of those places where the chef creates a new menu every few weeks and you'll spend the entire meal with your eyes closed as your tongue takes you on an incredible journey. This is my happy place for sure! |
