Charley's Grilled Subs, Mesa, Arizona Restaurant Details

The food is great and the staff were really friendly. You can see the cooking area and it is definitely clean.

Food:

We went to Charley's a year ago and promptly left due to a very foul odor and two lazy employees. This past Friday night, Sept. 6, 2013, my spouse decided we would give it another try as we had an entertainment book coupon. I was determined not to go but as a passenger had no choice, well, my spouse was right to give Charley's another go! We entered and absolutely no foul odor, 3 cheerful employees greeted us right away and our food was promptly made.

We both ordered different Philly subs and as they cooked I spoke to Julio and inquired about the previous years' experience. Julio explained there had been construction on both sides of Charley's which affected the sewer system and drove away a lot of their customers.

We ate our Philly cheese-steaks and loved every bite. They were pretty close to the real thing, best I could find in AZ. I'm glad my spouse insisted on another try as now Charley's IS my favorite cheese-steak go to.

Many, many thanks to Julio for being so polite and outgoing and making our dine-in very nice. Hope the boss gives Julio a kudo for his hospitality. Anyone who was there last year and left like I did, go try this place again, they deserve another chance.

This was my first time ever going there. as im looking at the menu, the girl working asked me what i wanted, i told her this is my first time so i will need a min. no response. (the employees looked dirty which made me feel like the food area was dirty. the man that was working keeps his name tag on his hat which is unprofessional.) I ordered, the wait wasnt long which was nice, but the cheese wasnt melted all the way. OH and the WHOLE TIME i was there they were speaking Spanish to eachother like i wasnt even there!! I will never go back there again, and i told alll of my co workers and friends to never go there as well.
only positive thing: there fries were decent. and the wait wasnt long.
