The crab legs were very good...she crab soup had more Sherry than I prefer. Restaurant is clean and art deco decor.

This place was disgusting. Zero stars. I'll typically post positive aspects about a business and tip-toe around the negative, but this was horribly bad and without a doubt, the worst restaurant I have EVER eaten in. Oyster po-boy was just bread with 4-5 pathetically small soggy oysters. Rockfish was actually rancid flounder. Yes, even an amateur can tell the difference. Bad service, soggy fries (was the fryer at a proper temp or was it just turned on?), bland she-crab. I wouldn't even call it she-crab--more like the Maryland style cream of crab without the Old Bay (where's the sherry???). Tasted like wall paper paste. Worst part is, I brought my aunt from Colorado who really wanted seafood.

The food was horrible, down to the French fries. The flounder, the best item on the table, was completely bland. Sandwiches came with no lettuce or tomato. Both the Cole slaw and the crabcakes tasted both like the fridge they were stored in and like they were going bad. Staff has no clue that their food is bad, saying that they've never had a complaint and making comments that our party was trying to get a free meal (we did not eat the food other than half of a flounder sandwich). I have never written a negative review in my life but how can you not know? If you want a real crab cake, go to AW Shucks in Norfolk. You get more for your money too.

The she crab soup was nothing more than a bowl of a bland cream base with more shell than crab meat. The hush puppies were so deeply fried that the fried ring almost met in the center and they were hard as rocks. The seafood plater was suggested to be ordered fried. You could taste the old un-clean fry oil in everything and it just coated your mouth. There may have been bits of oyster in the fried oysters along with breading and oil. The crab puck tasted of onion and green pepper and nothing like a crab cake. The poor scallops were just chucked into the oil with no breading and unfortunately the juice from them was just fry oil that soaked into the scallop. The shrimp were as tough as leather and the small fish piece was tasteless and sad. I never thought a baked potato was something you could mess up. Two ingredients, potato and hot... Yeah, it was overcooked and hard on the bottom. The fries tasted of the dirty old oil and the black eyed peas were simply boiled to death and unseasoned. They just tasted of mushy water. The green beans were the same. My fiance had a "freshly squeezed" lemonade that she was slightly enjoying until she started eating. The dirty unchanged oil just coated your tongue and whole mouth so if there was anything with taste the flavor was lost. I should've known it was a dive cause there was one other person in there aside from a few employees. I was hoping this would have been a great hidden gem of a place even though it's off a main road. Sigh. What a meal to end your vacation with. I'll be feeling this one later.
