I really do not understand all of the negative reviews on Google and Yelp but here is my $0.02.

I have dined at The Charthouse in Cardiff, CA and was thrilled when I saw that they have a location in Scottsdsle. My fiance made reservations for my birthday and we had a great time! We were seated at a table overlooking the lake at sunset and were provided custom menus recognizing my birthday. The service was great, our waitress Deborah made sure we had everything we needed, and we also had the manager stop by after we received our entrees. I ordered the steak and it was just slightly overdone but this happens on occasion being in that I always order well done. My fiance ordered the Ahi and said it was perfect, and our appetizer and desserts were both wonderful. We will definitely return to CH!

Attended a presentation for travel agencies on 25th of September, 2014 at the Chart House.
The meal was top notch, service great, wine and drinks very nice and dessert to die for. Considering that there were 60 attendees, the food was hot, salad cold, soup hot, and breads yummy.
The facility for the vendors to present their products was a little crowded due to space allowed. With the number of people attending, it worked out fine.

Came across this little gem by luck, waiter was excellent/helpful, and prompt. Reserved three tables for selection, chose to be seated outside. Staff lit torches, and prepared the table specially. Though it was late evening, the pond reflection, and sounds of the ducks, geese made for a fantastic dinner ("scenery, music"). The Alaskan King crab, and Prime Rib was cooked to perfection. Waiter was accessible, and kept glasses full.

DO NOT GO HERE!!!

First, the service was deplorable. The waitress huff and puffed whole time. We waited for long time to order our drinks and meals. The waitress forgot to bring us the dessert forks. Second, we came here for Thanksgiving dinner. The turkey, stuffing, potatoes were all cold and dry. Also, the cranberry sauce was watery. When the pumpkin pie came out, it was still frozen. We would have had a better meal at the Boston Market, and we hate that place.

My husband surprised me with an anniversary dinner at the Chart House. Got there a little earlier than our reservation but was seated right away. Our personalized menus were ready and waiting. The man that seated us (manager?) was a little rude by asking my husband if our 19 years of marriage was consecutive. What?

We were put in a corner booth behind the salad bar. We didn't mind the privacy but after looking around, we realized it was the furthest away from the beautiful view (and there were seats available so it isn't like he didn't have a choice).

Our waitress was pleasant and helpful. Husband ordered scallops which were amazing. He substituted the green beans for asparagus which they forgot to do. He tested the waitress to see if she realized this mistake which she did not even though they had a long discussion about the switch when he ordered. I ordered the mixed grill (salmon, scampi and crab cake). Salmon (great), scampi (okay), crab cake (dry/rubbery). Water glasses were kept filled, empty plates removed quickly. We did notice the waitress tried to upsell everything: wine, meal, dessert. Didn't pressure us when we said no to her recommendations though. I mentioned that it was my husband's birthday as well as our anniversary to see if we got complimentary dessert since I watched another table get a slice of cake with a candle in it delivered to their table. Nothing more than a congratulations for him. Even chain restaurants give complimentary dessert (especially for an annivesary/birthday combo).

Noticed some body language with her and the manager (eyes rolling/smirk) when he stopped by our table and asked if everything was "well". Not sure what that was about.

Overall, I liked the atmosphere, didn't like the manager and by the end of the evening wasn't too sure of the waitress. The food got an okay from me and an amazing from my husband. I think we will try some place else next time.
