No longer any meat on dry fried ribs... its as if they put them in a blender to stretch them. So sad. They was the best in the county for so long! Now they are a tranwreck unless you like grisel

I have to say that most of the on-line reviews for the China Pack Kitchen are hopelessly out of date. As a regular customer both before and after, I know that a new owner and kitchen staff took this place over about a year ago, and so any reviews written before the year 2014 are pretty much meaningless.

That is not to say this was not a good place for Chinese take out before 2014. Actually, the best thing about this restaurant in the past was that the food didn't have that blah, steam table, taste, and that is something the present owner and staff have maintained. They don't have a steam table in the China Pack Kitchen. Anything and everything you choose on their menu is freshly prepared and cooked to your order. That means that if you are like me and neglect to call ahead to place your order, it may take 10 or 15 minutes for it to be prepared, but in my opinion the wait is well worth it to escape that awful steam table taste..

Comparing this restaurant today to the way it was before, I find it to be better now if for no other reason than that they have an expanded menu that includes special items like Crab Rangoon and five different fish entries, of which General Tso's Fish is my personal favorite. Then, of course, there is their Dry Fried Ribs, which I consider to be the best in Oakland. But don't take my word for it. On a recent visit just last week, I happened to be in the China Pack Kitchen waiting for my order of Salt and Pepper Fish when a well known member of the Golden State Warriors, who shall remain nameless in accordance with what I believe is Google policy, came in and placed an order for a large Dried Fried Ribs. So you know they must be good.
