this is the original Ciro's not the multiple Ciro's pizzeria. The pizza here is delicious and definitely a tad different from the other non partnered Ciro's pizzeria. I have no idea how they can have two pizza places with the same name practically in the same area but make no mistake this is the original Ciro's pizza place!

Ciro's Pizza opened across the street from my house when I was all of14.. Every afternoon after school, I would cross the street and get a slice--Tony, the owner, and I were fast friends and have remained on a first name basis, through nearly 30 years. The first time I experienced culture shock was being away from Ciro's pizza. All I could find in other states were either a) chain pizza stores or b) supposed NY Pizza places, the vast majority of which were mediocre at best. While at college, I DID take the time to try every pizza shop I could get to, at that point not realizing how lucky I was to have grown up right across the street from the strip mall with Ciro's. I went all over the U.S. to go to school and could buy “pizza” all over the place, yet every time I would visit my family, my first steps upon arriving remained steps to Ciro's to pick up a pie. After college, I moved around Long Island a bit and tried lots of pizza shops, and no place has ever been as good as Ciro's. Incidentally I'm not the only one who thinks Ciro's is the best. Ciro's has been recognized on multiple occasions by Newsday (LI's major newspaper) as the best pizza on LI, and to my knowledge, they still hold that title, When I joined the Army, I travelled all over Europe, yet, again, found no pizza compares with Ciro's--even Sicily couldn't do better. It's important to realize, while in the Army, I moved all of the time! and since I love pizza, wherever I went, I would try their pizza. To this day nothing has been nearly as good as Ciro's. I've even taken 50+ women to Ciro's in my life, one of which worked in Manhattan and lived in the Bronx. It was difficult to even get her to "just try it." She was a full-blooded NYC Italian woman and before she tried a simple Ciro's "slice," she was certain she'd prefer the pizza from her chosen pizza place in Little Italy. She was in for the surprise of her life But! she, just like everyone else I've ever introduced to Ciro's was hooked! She says, even today when we're long broken up, she misses Ciro's was the best pizza she'd ever had. My next bid of evidence comes from the behavior of NYers and our inherent high paced lives. Of course most people who live in NYC and its surrounding suburbs are harsh critics, but fair. More importantly they're people who won't settle for less. Still, who would expect people to drive over an hour to buy pizza, especially when the drive is 100+ of them on the way out? Yet people, families, even some tourists take a long ride out to Hauppauge, solely to eat Ciro's pizza., It's hard for me to even imagine pizza that good, Yet, I know it's true because whenever I go to visit my old haunts, during one of what become several trips to Ciro's. Invariably, I meet at least 1 customer/family from NYC, or Westchester, all the way out to Montauk point (a 2+ hour drive). Now, even after eating Ciro's for 30+ years, when I visit NY, after I drop off my luggage, I head straight for Ciro's. Before I forget, Ciro's makes more than pizza and the other food is excellent as well (I'm particular to their meatball parm. hero), but you really can't go wrong there again. If none of that can convince you to stop in next time you're anywhere on LI or in NYC, then you're the ones truly missing out. From the service to the "old world" pizza place feel, to literally being recognized by major publications as making the best pizza in NY, (thus meaning they make the best pizza on the planet), Ciro's has put their stamp on the Italian "red sauce" cuisine map, but it should be as a STAR, not just a red bubble with a black dot. Too long? Too bad! :-) If I could bring any one "thing" from NY to FL, it would be Ciro's, and I wouldn't care where in FL because the drive would be worth it! If there's one pizza parlor in the world you make an effort to, this should be it!
