I took my Son and his girlfriend to dinner for his 27th birthday on 2/12/15. I also brought my 8 yr. old granddaughter along. The time was well past dinner hour since we stopped at his house to give him his cake and blow out the candles. We were being seated around 7:45pm. The dining room had many empty tables around the side walls & windows and the center tables were all empty except for 2 small ones. The hostess sat our 4 top adjoined to another couple and right next to the doorway of the kitchen and drink island where the servers get drinks.
I asked if we could have a table against the wall, away from the kitchen noise. She reluctantly agreed but wouldn't make eye contact with me, instead looking at the table then the floor as if it was a problem. She left stating she needed to make sure it was wiped down, though the table was cleared. She returned 5 minutes later with our menus and she sat us down at table 141, "next" to the table I'd asked for. (It was not busy) The waiter Justin O. brought our drinks and I forgot to order my granddaughter hot chocolate so I asked if we could get one of those, he agreed to do so and left to put our order in at 8:05pm. A different waiter showed up 10 minutes later with my Son's, girlfriend’s salad. She ordered the chicken and dumplings and it was a pretty good size salad that came with it. Not more than 4 minutes later our dinner is being put on the table, I told our waiter that she just now got the salad with only enough time for 2 to 3 bites. He apologized saying the salad person had called off work and no one got it ready to bring out. I suggested taking the salad home and eating the main meal since it would be cold by the time she finished the salad. Although both plates were crowded, she ate both at the same time instead. The macaroni dish my granddaughter ordered was less than room temperature, so I took it to Justin to get it microwaved a few minutes to heat back up. I ordered the Rueben sandwich which had a great flavor. The bottom of the grilled rye bread though, was very wet and soggy. Either the sour krout needed drained more or it sat under the heat lamp sweating against the plate too long, I'm not sure which. (It wasn't very busy) Then to top it off, my granddaughter never got her hot chocolate. I’ve eaten at Cracker Barrel many times without complaint with my family and always recommend it to others. Last night’s food quality lacked, and the service could really use improvement. I was disappointed with our birthday dinner at Cracker Barrel and hope it isn't a trend, going downhill.

The worst Cracker Barrel Ihave ever been to. And probably the last. Service was the worst, atmosphere poor, food mediocre.
