03/10/2014 8:48 pmMy husband and I love trying ethnic food so we tried Sri Lankan food. There are less than 10 sri lankan restaurants in the entirety of the United States, and we happened to get lucky because there happens to be one in Colorado Springs! The food was very delicious and rich. We ordered the coconut roti, chicken curry, and dahl curry. Everything was tasty. The owner even chatted with us for a while and taught us a lot about the Sri Lankan culture and language which was an awesome experience for us. |

09/25/2013 6:12 pmDO NOT EAT AT THE CURRY LEAF, YOU COULD BECOME SICK. I am a former employee of The Curry Leaf Restaurant and I have seen how the owner Lana Hilstrom runs this place. Many times I have witnessed customers being lied to about what on the menu is vegan and what isn't. Almost every dish is pre-made weekly and then stored in plastic containers. The dishes are then heated in the microwave WHILE in over used, half melted, non-microwave safe PLASTIC CONTAINERS, which can cause the food to become contaminated with phthalates and BPA. The owner, Lana, also takes advantage of high school students by making them work 10 hour shifts with no breaks, stealing there cash tips because they are "in training", and NEVER PAYING THEM FOR THE TIME THEY WORKED AT THE CURRY LEAF! I know that this review seems as if it were written by a single bitter ex-employee, but the fact of the matter is that I am only one of about 5 employees that worked for Lana that she never payed, and that is only counting the ex-employees I have met. During my time employed at The Curry Leaf Restaurant I witnessed Lana fire an employee because she felt that the employee was "bad luck" and fire another employee because he was African-American. I am asking anyone who reads this review to carefully think about whether or not they want to eat a restaurant that treats employees so poorly and values customers health so lowly. |

06/16/2013 4:16 pmMy wife and I tried this place on the recommendation of a friend, and we were blown away. We tried the Chicken Curry, Dahl, and Deviled Beef. We also ordered the Roti which is the traditional Sri Lankan bread. All of the food was superb. We enjoy spicy food, so we ordered it on the high end of medium spice and it had some serious kick to it. Lana, the owner, was really charming and assured us that the food could be made quite mild if requested. We have never had Sri Lankan food before and expected something like Indian food. This was similar, yet very different, and way better. |

02/03/2013 12:35 amOur experience was both good and not so good, started first we ordered a salad, the server informed us they ran out of cukes, so we choose another, he comes back regrettably there are no more salads for that day. so we ordered our meals, the server did not know how the Maldavie fish was prepared. We ordered it anyway. |
