01/21/2016 8:15 pm"Delight" in "dry-aged perfection" at this chophouse in River North's James Hotel where "showman" David Burke delivers "humongous" steaks complemented by a "supporting cast" of "imaginative" eats like pretzel-crusted crab cakes and "the best starter popovers" in a "beautiful" room that's "upscale without being too highfalutin"; add in carefully "choreographed" service and it all "comes at a price" – though the prix fixe lunch is an "awesome deal" and the "weekend brunch can't be beat." |

12/14/2015 2:19 amA couple of years ago this was the best steakhouse in town, but now it is an overpriced disappointment. The steaks were tough and flavorless. The sides were underwhelming. This may explain why it was easy to get a reservation and why the place was half empty. The only positive was the service. |

11/12/2015 4:03 amThe best steak in Chicago. I have eaten here 6 times and the dry aged steaks are phenomenal. First ate at David Burke and Donnatellas in NYC. From the bread to the deserts all the food is exceptional. If you don't believe me, after 5 years of my telling others, Chicago magazine agreed best steaks in a city of steaks. It is a hotel based restaurant so the lunch can be a great deal. |

10/17/2015 12:18 amSaw the highlights of this Chicago landmark off of numerous critic shows. Staff very friendly, but lacking professionalism with their conversations amongst each other. Steak was prepared to my specifications, but nothing stood out. Dull presentation, lacking umami taste, I could have done this back home. Overall a big disappointment. Recommend you try another place for the cost associated with the PrimeHouse. |

08/24/2015 3:14 pmWas very very disappointed in our dinner last night. My wife wanted crab legs, and they were out? How does that happen? Worse was the quality of the steaks. My friend and I both got '40 day aged ribeye'. Both were overdone so much it was sent back) - but, the steaks were not prime - had no flavor, no seasoning. I've had better choice steaks from a grocery store. |

06/10/2015 5:06 pmI cant believe the reviews. I have eaten at Peter Luger, Steak and Main, Porterhouse, Delmonico, Capital Grill etc. i can not believe this restaurant has the ratings it has. We made the reservation 2 months in advance based on the reviews and Food Network ratings. We arrived on time and were seated. The Pop overs came out after ordering and were magnificent. Then the oysters came for the one of us that had ordered, everything from there went down hill. Forty minutes later I flagged down my waiter to ask him where our salads were, he told us there was an issue in the kitchen, he came back about 10 minutes later and informed us that they were sending us extra sides for our wait, ok that is something good! 15 minutes later our steaks arrive. I had ordered the 55 day aged ribeye medium rare, the other 5 had ordered 40 day ribeye's mid rare to mid well. My steak was med well, barely pink. It had no seasoning on it at all, We all added salt and pepper. The extra sides ended up being french fries. Just really disappointed, we talked about it non stop for the 2 months before going. Save your money and go to the Capital Grill, It shadows this place, How they get the reviews makes you wonder if the system is real. Sorry Chicago but a trip to NYC may be an eye opener. |
