I am from Texas where Authentic Mexican food abounds aplenty. My wife and I decided to try this place out since Mexican food in Colorado is next to impossible to find that is not Indian-Mexican (Arizona) styled food. I also qualify this in saying that my wife's family is from Mexico so my taste for this type of food has been very well educated.
Dos Hombres was terrible from the food standpoint. I could not understand how it has remained popular. The ground beef tasted and felt awful, and I felt sick once we left the restaurant. My wife’s dish was close to being inedible for her. The salsa was watered down and forgettable, the chips were stale, along with terrible sopaipillas that was more of a flat bread type rather than the soft delicious kind you'll pretty much anywhere else. This place was a waste of my time and money and a further confirmation that Authentic Mexican food is very hard to find in this town. My clue into whether the restaurant will be good is if they serve red/green sauce with everything. You don't need to pour sauce over everything unless it is to cover up the bad cooking!!! This is very Arizona style, and far removed from the real thing that Mexican food has to offer. Also, the prices are outrageous if that is a turn off all by itself.
The food is bad even if you are not a tuned to what Mexican food is supposed to be. Don't waste your time here.
