I had the Greek salad with grilled chicken and the chicken was decent. Kids chicken finger meals and the 1/2 lb hamburger were better. Earns 4 stars Bc of the location and park outside. Kids loved watching the planes take off.

An extremely novel experience with pretty good food. Downwind Restaurant and Lounge is located next to an airstrip, inside a flight school. Finding the restaurant is a chore, but the result is completely worth the effort.

The decor of the restaurant is plain, but fitting with the location. Seating consists of the entrance area near the bar, a more open area with a better view of the airstrip, and then a patio that looks out onto the airstrip. When we came, there were very few people out on the patio, but I can imagine that this isn't the case during peak hours and in pleasant weather. The view of the airstrip as well as the surrounding area is fantastic.

Service was very good. Each of the servers seemed extremely considerate and more than willing to help each other out by checking on tables when the designated server was busy. We had our order taken and food brought to us reasonably fast, and our waiter checked on us regularly throughout the meal.

The food was rather good as well. Several unique options, and the quality was pretty good. Value was good, especially for the large portions we got. We got friend pickles as an appetizer, and they were some of the best I've had.

Downwind is definitely worth a visit if you're in the Atlanta area, especially if you don't want to deal with parking and traffic in the downtown district. Finding the restaurant is a bit confusing, but certainly worth a visit for the food and view.

I fly there on occaision for a $100 Cheeseburger, Pilots would know this term. I have been eating there for years and have no complaints. Always stop in when I'm in the area. Not bad prices and very large burgers.
