Duffy's Tavern, Ocean City, Maryland Restaurant Details

We go here everytime we go to the beach. We love the place and always get great service.

Food:

Nice place for good Irish food. Definitely come here with the family. Portions are for two with the entrees though. Some amazing, mouth-watering dishes include Irish Stew, Burger Boxty, Buffalo Wings, and Irish Soda Bread. The Irish Stew is creamy, and tastes just like grandma makes it. It has a creamy complexion with bits of carrot, potato, and lamb. The Burger Boxty just enchances the meal with a juicy, textured burger. The burger has a potato pancake underneath which provides a crisp that fits perfectly into the burger. The entire thing is covered in a mushroom sauce, which is very tasty. The feta cheese just compliments everything. The Buffalo Wings may be a little over-powering but provide nice tender meat with a perfect crisp. The Irish soda Bread has no words, just like grandma makes it.

There were 7 of us on July 14th at Duffy's. We were eating outside since it was a nice evening. There was one other table being served. It took almost 30 minutes to get appetizers. We kept asking the waitress WHY were our meals taking so long? She said that the kitchen must be backed up. We checked. The inside restaurant was not busy. While we waited and waited AND WAITED, two other tables were seated, ordered, ate, paid their checks and left. We were not served our meals until after we had been seated for one and a half hours (that's 1-1/2 hours!)!!!! Two sandwiches were cold. The aus jus was luke warm. The "crabcake" sandwich was no bigger than a meatball. We finally spoke w/the manager(s) who agreed to take a whole 10% off of our bill (big deal) and not charge us for the two sandwiches that were cold and not eaten - how gracious. The managers didn't seem to have any authority whatsoever and don't know the meaning of pleasing clientele. Won't be going back to Duffy's - will go to Tequila Mockingbird next door!

This place was just around the corner from where we were staying and looked busy which is always a good sign. My mistake was that though the bar was busy, the dining area was empty except for the four of us. Service was incredibly slow (50 minutes from the time we ordered) and again we were the only diners. The highlight of the meal was the appetizer of the Irish soda bread which was good. When we finally got served, one person's fish was almost raw and the other meals were not hot, but luke warm when served. Some of the stuff seemed like it came directly out of a can. Got them to take the uncooked fish of the tab (whole story in itself). Spoke to a regular who said their sandwiches are great, but never orders dinner there - Oh well, it was really the only bad meal we had in OC that week - so I guess 6 out of 7 isn't too bad. If you are looking for a Guiness and a sandwich - go ahead, but for anything cooked - there are just too many good places to eat in OC to waste your money here

My family and I recently took a trip to the O.C. and was looking for a nice place to dine. What we found instead ,was the best tasting burger ever, in a completely relaxing atmosphere. The Boxty Burger was one of, if not the best tasting burger I have ever had. I enjoyed it so much that I had to take one back to our condo for my son to try. My son, who is a fine Chef himself, agreed with me. He also said it was one of the best tasting burgers that he had tasted. We went back two days later for another one. And next summer, you better believe that we'll be back for more. In the meantime, my son promised to make me my own burger, I'm sure he'll come close to Duffy's, being that he is a Chef, but can he match the perfection of this fine tasting burger, I'll let you know.
