This "family-owned" Southtown Mexican, famous for its "home cooking" for more than 40 years, offers special Saturday soups along with some "fairly healthy" Tex-Mex and interior dishes as well; "amazingly low" prices are part of the appeal, as is the "lovely" hacienda setting with two patios – it's worth it for "the charm" alone.

Are you kidding me? This place. This. Place. Knocked our socks off. The absolute best Tex Mex you will find. And the cocktails?! No words. It was a raspberry ginger margarita, blended to a billowed perfection. I splurged from my usual health food faire as I could not resist the puffy tacos. The chicken in said taco was decadent, full of flavor and so very moist. The hubs got the short ribs. I think he would've passed out from exuberant bliss had he not been so looking forward to the perfectly balanced flan. You guys-I forgot to mention. We went during happy hour. The margarita's were 5.00 each! These were the best drinks we had on this trip-and just a half a mile from our hotel at the River Walk. The service was attentive and engaging. Best restaurant experience we had during our stay. We both give it a thumbs up and would emphatically recommend it to anyone going to San Antonio.

Had an amazing experience! We had wonderful service, the food was just like at my grandmothers house thus living up to their "home made" title, and the place was very clean.

The building looks older and outside is covered in beautiful moss.

The cleanliness of the place could be improved. I sat next a wall with plates on it as decoration above the table... i couldnt tell if it was dust or dead flies on the bottom of the plate... but if you can get past that the food and service was wonderful! Id come again and just ask to sit at a booth.
