Looks like I got duped. After reading reviews of my other reviewers I was very excited to try this place out. One has to know that the location of this spot is not the most comfortable to get to. Be prepared to climb up few flight of stairs to get to this spot.

The place is not super small but it's not huge either. It can probably sit 8-10 people. Most of people actually get a take out from here . I decided to try their special of the day which had rice paired with a fish. The food tasted just meh and for $16 bucks it was way overpriced for the quality and quantity I got at this place.

Definitely not worth the hype!!

++
- Loads of food for $7 lunch special
- Tastes like you're in a Puerto-Rican (or Dominican) grandmother's kitchen

+
- A very Hispanic clientele, so you know the food is good if they eat at a restaurant making their home food

-
- Iced Tea?/Kool-Aid?/Whatever the free lunch special drink is...It is diabetically sweet
- Very hidden, and you have to go through a gauntlet of sleezy jewelry salesmen, to get there
- I felts the meat to rice ratio was pretty small for the lunch special

TIPS:
- Not for the injured or cardiac challenged. It's four flights of stairs and no elevator

A lot more authentic than I bargained for. lol Great lunch specials - though the red onions in their salad is a bit too strong for my buds. The tea that comes with it is served room temperature, which is weird.

Just like Ecuador - the food, the ambiance and the people. This isn't one of those fine dining locations at street level. Instead, you'll have to go up a narrow set of stairs and enter a small dining room with food kept warm at a serving station at the counter. The rice, however, has the distinct Ecuadorian flavor that can't be beat while the bolas are just perfect with sopa that has yucca, corn, and other veggies that remind me of the days eating in Ecuador.

Being an Ecuadorian, I can sincerely say that El Rincon del Sabor is the best Ecuadorian restaurant in New York.

The food is great, the flavors authentic, the choice of entrees truly inspiring. The right sazón for reasonable prices.

The staff is friendly, the place neat. I wish I could go more often, but no matter, everytime I eat there I enjoy it. Highly recommended.
