We have been to Elaine's twice and am about to return. I adored the Scrooge show and will take our grand daughter.. it was just plain fun- silly and fun. Yes the show might be "cheesy" but it's all in good fun and the food was great. We spent our 39th anniversary there in Sept for the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde play- and I had just found out some heart breaking news that day- still the show and night brightened that sad day and was a great way to celebrate our anniversary

I visited Elaine's Haunted Mansion on my recent trip to Cape May (July 18) because I have always enjoyed the dinner theater. This time around I brought my sister to Cape May and I so wanted for her to have a great experience as I have had in the past. This particular time I chose the newest dinner entertainment which began a little earlier in the evening and involved the play being performed while dinner was in progress rather than afterward. The dinner served was excellent as was the dessert. The atmosphere in the room was also excellent. The play itself seemed to lack substance and the story line seemed vague. Each time the actors were about to inform the audience about the plot or particulars of the story line, loud music appeared and the actors mouthed inaudible words to each other or perhaps no words and just motioned to each other. There seemed to be almost no substantive dialog. Only one of the actors, the female ghost, appeared to have had some acting experience and she carried her part well. The other actors really only had motion and sound and their purpose in the play was unclear. The idea of performing the play interactively through dinner was good and it does have a future. However, there must be a multitude of good writing already published that could be adapted into this play to provide the actors with more meaty lines and a more developed story. That alone would greatly improve the quality of the experience for people over 10 years of age.

Very disappointing. Food was awful and cold. You could tell that there was no care put into it. Service was lousy. Also, the host was on the rude side. Not worth the money at all. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone. It was a waste of time and money. I have no idea how this place is still in business.

We will be going to Elaine's Dinner Theater for the 4th year in a row this June 2011. We really enjoy the ORIGINAL productions that they perform. Always well done. Looking forward to "Secret Agent Stan". The cast was extremely nice. After the show last year they took the time to pose for photos with my 10 year old daughter. We cherish that photo most from our 2010 trip to the Jersey shore.
