Famous Dave's, Mesa, Arizona Restaurant Details

This use to be my go to barbecue place but lately they have changed. They took my favorite item salmon spread off the menu and the pulled pork and ribs are not nearly the same quality that they once were. Rudy's has surpassed them now as my favorite BBQ restaurant.

First off thought the St. Louis Ribs were awesome. Just the way I like it. Our seater was also very nice. Our waiter had some problems. He was engaging but didn't seem to want us there. we literally had 2 minutes to look at the menu before he came back and asked us if we were ready to order. I said we weren't even close he seemed put off and did not engage with me just my daughter and her husband. We were served dinner in a normal amount of time. about 1/3 of our way through dinner he brought our check. It was obvious we weren't close to being done. I said as much and he said he just wanted to make sure we got this survey. Again he seemed put off. We did not get a chance to even ask for after dinner drinks or desert. Taking the hint I asked for a keylime pie to go, but I didn't get it until the waiter took the check and said goodbye. I had to ask for the pie again after I paid for it! I guess the idea is to come to your restaurant shutup, eat your overpriced meal and leave. I was trying to have a nice experience with my daughter and her new husband. Though the ribs were good I will not be back. I will try another famous dave's or just go to Tom's.

Great food with decent portions. I loved the half slab of ribs. It has pretty good sauce for it already but there are more sauces to add on top of it. The onion strings are very tasty and there were enough to share. I'll definitely come back and try some of their other items.

It was alright bbq but not entirely what we expected for the pricing. I like Rudys better.
