3 starts because 4 for food but 2 for experience. Everything my family and I ordered had great flavor and tasted fresh and authentic. BUT we were just sad being there: sad for the gentleman who was busing overflowing tables and washing mountains of dishes and completely overwhelmed, sad for the new cashier who was having a hard time with the orders and had to keep apologizing because they were out of this, and coupons wouldnt apply to that, sad for the people standing in line while trying to be patient and for the people siting in too cramped spaces with music too loud. This place needs management to come in and help the hard workers there. Bring in a few more people to help, organize the flow of the place, and this could be a great place to eat!

Food was great. We ordered the Royal plate for 3 people. It was more than enough. Lamb was nice and tender. I really liked the greek salad. There was shrimp in it also. Flavor for everything in the plate was just right. Baklava was not really that good. Would give 5 if they had AC and alcohol. Gotta go somewhere else to get that. It is a self service place but the employees were very attentive.

The gyro ($8.95) was nothing more than pita bread, some meat and a touch of sauce. Not really a gyro for those who have had real gyros before. The greek fries were garlic french fries. Dry and unevenly seasoned but edible at $4.50. Lunch for two was slightly over $30.
The place is nicely decorated with an outdoor lanai overlooking a portajohn across the street. If you don't want to pay $4 for a small beverage ($8 for a large), run over to City Mill and buy one for a buck fifty.
Since The Fat Greek is a takeout joint, don't expect service even though they ask for a tip. But these days all places expect a tip including household pets. Overall, not bad but not good either and that is a bad thing in my book. I want a reason to come back yet I couldn't find one. Maybe you will.

So here is my experience from a few minutes ago...
I am a student at UH, was hungry decided on some take out food. Their phone didn't work (Fax machine) so I drove to the Fat Greek and ordered in person. I got a Gyro Sandwich and brought it back to UH to eat during a break.

When I opened the Styrofoam pack, I was pretty disappointment. The gyro turned out to be a toasted pita bread with 3 pieces of lamb in it (nothing else), accompanied with a side salad which was mostly greens and nothing else. The lamb was badly roasted, very thick and not particular tasty. I paid $9.50 for that, are you kidding me? That is not a Gyro! The sole reason these people are still in business must be that students are too hungry to go far and the constant rate of incoming freshman. Shame on you guys. Thank god I also bought some chips at 7/11.

We've enjoyed ordering take-out from here for the past several months. Today we called to order something that is on their online menu, and were told they no longer make that item, but have it in appetizer format. The ingredients in these two dishes are exactly the same. Why could they not wrap our tuna into a pita instead of putting it on top? Seems like an easy order. We will not be eating here again.
