I love federal spice. I'm going to go there in about half an hour.

The fresh, warm tortilla chips are magical-realistic: if you pick up some Federal Spice on your way somewhere, the chips will disappear by the time you get there!

One time I got the BBQ tofu wrap on the way to the beach. The tortilla chips in the bag disappeared by the time I got there. I sat on the sand and ate the wrap. The tofu was really nicely done and the whole wrap was flavorful and wonderful. It was a fine experience.

I like that they just put the chips right in the bag, because there's no need for additional packaging. If you think you need lots of packaging in your life, you might be confused.

It's cute, quirky, they have juice boxes for your kids, but the fun ends there.

Let me just break it down dish by dish.

Falafel wrap: cold. They did warn me it would be, but it's a bad move on their part. Why cold? If you want some bagged mesclun mix drizzled with yogurt and wrapped in a mediocre tortilla, you'll love this I guess. The "falafel" inside looked like croutons - weird, cube shaped, fried bits of tasteless I-don't-know-what. I took only a few bites before realizing there was no way I could eat it.

A black bean soft taco: flavorless. Moldy "salsa" on top - aka Cisco stewed tomatoes out of a can. Another item not eaten by our group.

Sweet potato fries: adequate.

Goat curry plate: seemed okay, but the rice and beans that accompanied it were old, crusty, and flavorless.

Completely baffled by any positive reviews of this place.

I had a great meal at this little place...great prices and even better portions. If a concern, there are plenty of vegetarian options. I'm definitely going back. My boyfriend and I ordered 2 quesadillas, 2 sodas, and an order of delicious yam fries for under $20.
