I just tried to order a gift certificate from Fiddleheads in Bangor. I am driving up from Portland on Sunday for a very special birthday for a friend. Because I waited a very long time I didn't have time to have it mailed and they don't have anyway to get it on line. I came up this great idea to have it faxed to me. They couldn't find a way to do this because it could be duplicated even though it would be numbered. The only other solution was to leave it next door at another business if I wanted to get up earlier and drive into Bangor where I wasn't going and get up earlier to do it. From there the conversation went steadily downhill. So they gave up a $35 gift certificate plus the extra money that the people who came with my friend would have spent. I don't know any fine dining places where you can get out without spending at least $75 to $100 per couple.

Best fine dining in Bangor! We go whenever we can, the menu changes seasonally and is always excellent. Service is fantastic, they always make us feel welcome. Entrees are delicious but we'll often make a meal by getting one of every appetizer and sampling the variety.

I walked into fiddleheads under the impression that I had finally found a fine dining place in downtown Bangor. I truly wanted this to be true because my boyfriend and I haven't taken a brake from work for months and we finally came to the conclusion that we needed to take a little time off for just the two of us. Turns out, this place ruined our special evening. The food was awful. Trying to bite into the lobster grilled cheese was harder than chewing through a rubber shoe. WAY OVER COOKED. It also had little to no flavor. The mint/cucumber lemonade had so little lemon taste, I thought I was drinking listerine. The pork was nasty. It was pink and slimy. Lastly, the service was dreadful. Waiters would walk past your table, noticing your empty plates, but not get them. And a refill of water had to be asked for. Over all, this place is way too over priced. Don't waste your time.

Inventive menu with something for every taste. Food is locally sourced and fresh. Nice ambiance and the service is great. What's not to like?

I was in town for a business meeting and we had a great meal here. The service was excellent. I really enjoyed their cocktails.
