Grossly overpriced and the food isn't as good as it used to be. Even the desserts aren't worth it anymore. So long Flying Star. It's too bad.

The food here is pretty good and it's nice for an occasional treat, but it's way overpriced for the quality and quantity of food you get. The desserts are great, though, so there's that. But I wouldn't go here for anything other than dessert probably.

I will never spend money at the flying star again. Overpriced, especially for the portions. My french fries were mushy and slightly cold. Although my sandwich was edible (with enough condiments I had to find myself), and the service was a joke. The whole "tipping before you get any food or service" model is defunct because of places like this.

Outrageously overpriced. This is a good place to go if you have work to do (although some of the locations have TERRIBLE MUSIC...so headphones). When I pay my ridiculous bill (usually over $15 for coffee and a pastry and always over $20 for a small lunch) I think of it as a paying my parking fee for the next few hours. That makes it hurt a little less. Coffee and pastry should be under 10 bucks where I'm from (Portland). This place used to have a monopoly on the coffee scene in ABQ but luckily...no more. Still, it is one of the only places you can go late night to study. So that sucks.

Flying Star is okay. I've been here a handful of times and the food is decent if a bit overrated and overpriced. Their menu doesn't have as many choices as it looks like when you glance at the online menu, but there's still good food. I personally like their breakfast food, especially their breakfast burritos.

What makes Flying Star worth the visit, though, is their desserts. I don't think their desserts are overrated at all. I've tried pieces of several different cakes and they're always moist, flavorful, and not too rich. Their pies are also pretty tasty. The key lime pie is a big favorite.

So yeah, Flying Star isn't the greatest restaurant in the world and, like a lot of Albuquerque favorites like Frontier, it is a bit overrated. But the food is good, and the desserts are definitely worth a taste.
