04/25/2015 4:09 amTo experience "days long past", try this circa-1926 Theater District "throwback" accessed via "rickety stairs" and known for "delectable" steaks, "career" waiters and "rough-around-the-edges" decor; its 37th Street sibling (set in John Barrymore's former townhouse) is similarly "old-fashioned", though prices are decidedly up to date. |

12/15/2014 11:53 amthe steak is excellent here! but do NOT sit in the bar and eat! The bar tender served us and was not in the best of mood that day and neither was the hostess. We had a small table and I accidentally put my napkin on the bread basket when i was finished eating and she corrected me and told me I was not supposed to do that. I know i'm not but it was an accident. And since when does a server/bar tender start giving lessons on table etiquette?! |

10/02/2013 12:45 amIf this is the best steak house then NYC has a problem. The staff have lost the passion for the job and show no interest in serving you unless you are a celebraity. my $45 steak was BURNT (charcoal) and with nothing extra, any sides had to be ordered and were stupidly expensive for just veggies and patatoes. Did NOT live up to the hype. Tipping was automatically added with no option to change. DON'T BOTHER!!! |

06/13/2008 8:00 pmthe filets were perfectly cooked and served with a mushroom cap. drinks were good and wine glass filled. shrimp scampi is supposed to be a garlic and butter sauce, but this was baked with just salt and pepper, maybe paprika. potaotes au gratin lacked any cheesey taste or consistancy. creamed spinach was mostly bland. service from tuxedoed staff was excellent, and the small room had a lot of character. a very good meal, but not fantastic. |
