Stood up our friends on Open Mic night. Not great food, surprisingly expensive.

I ate at the French quarter for the first and last time last weekend. My neice and her husband were on vacation here in Nashville and we were looking for some place to eat locally. I thought the FQ looked like a neat spot, so we ate there. The food and service were both pretty bad, but I'm normally pretty passive about that sort of thing, I just wouldn't have eaten there again. About two hours after eating, Angie (my neice), Chris (her husband), and myself were all suffering from pretty severe indigestion. It continued for a few hours and it got so bad that I had to go in to the ER and get checked out. I have never had to do that.
I contacted the French Quarter that next day to AT LEAST get a refund on our meal. Not only did they refuse, but they wouldn't let me speak to the owner. Long story short, DO NOT EAT AT THE FRENCH QUARTER.

This place is the Station Inn of the Eastside! Great sound, awesome wood-paneled room, and good bands! I will be hanging out here for years to come and bringing all my girlfriends!

We went to hear 3 Brazillian bands play during the Carnival in Nashville.

This is a bar with a kitchen, not a restaurant with a bar.
The food was decent (fried crawfish and shrimp) but took 45 minutes or longer to get. The place was packed, I would say probably past the point of safety (due to the 3 bands that were playing, all of which were great).

The sound guy was some teenager that didn't know what he was doing. Later the owner got involved and proved he had taught the teenager everything he knew (not much). The monitor situation on stage was horrible, the singers kept trying to hear themselves but couldn't. They only put the vocals in the middle of the house, so on the sides, all you got was instruments. They had 3 bands, so 3 different setups had to be done that night, and soundcheck took forever since the guy couldn't figure out which mic was which and had to make lots of trips to the stage so he could get sound out of a mic....

We had read all the bad reviews, and were prepared for the worst (we really wanted to hear those bands) so we found the place less bad than expected, but the chance of us going back there is pretty slim, we'll just catch those bands at other places.

Oh yea, we tried to make reservations, but were told they don't take reservations. We drive 2 hours from HSV to get there, only to find out the only tables available were for those that had reservations. Luckily we spotted a couple in a booth, and they allowed us to sit with them, so we resolved the problem, but evidently they lie on the phone and via email, so if you have a long drive, insist on reservations (although then you have to wonder if they actually count....)

Our tab came to about $60 including cover charge and tip

Was there a few weekends ago and watched a band called the "Hot Buttery Elves". They where excellent!! Very good entertainment and a lot of fun. The service was very good and had a great time.
