02/11/2016 6:47 pmI really enjoy the "old bookstore" feel of Gardener's. Some have complained that it looks/smells old but I think that gives it charm. I only have one minor critique: The section of books regarding women's studies is called something like sexual studies and LGBT-centered books are labelled "alternative lifestyle." That seems to be much more suited to a mid-90's bookstore than one in post-marriage equality 2016. Also, that section of books is hilariously outdated. This is not, by any means, a criticism of the store because I assume most of their books are acquired from trade-ins but i think LGBT would be a better section header than alternative lifestyle. |

08/26/2015 9:14 pmPros:A plethora of reasonably priced used hardback books. Cons: Arrangement & location of best selling authors defies all understanding. Many times their computers are down making trade-ins & checkout difficult. |

04/18/2014 8:04 pmI come here regularly and usually find some good reads, thanks to the store's massive selection. My only real complaint is how unorganized some areas are, particularly the WW2 section. Some of the prices of the older books need to be reduced also; I purchased one true crime novel, published in 2001, with a sticker price of $6.50 leftover from the store it was originally sold at, thinking at least $2.00 would be knocked off... only to be charged the sticker price. Certain employees will offer discounts and others won't. Besides miniscule incidents like these the store is really worth checking out. |
