06/14/2013 12:43 pmThis is an enjoyable experience. The car valet is $5, I don't know where you'd park otherwise. Our reservation was for 7:30 but we weren't seated until 8, so we enjoyed some time at the small cozy bar, where surprisingly they had an interesting Macallan scotch to taste. The hostess was friendly but must have been quite new, which added to the fun. The food was better than expected, shrimp scampi was full of garlic and butter and was surprisingly tasty, and my salmon was a huge piece and was cooked well. This is not super top-class food, rather, more like a nice diner that happens to be situated with an incredible view of Pittsburgh. By the way there is no way to reserve tables by the window or even to request them, you sort of get put wherever they want you, at least according to our new hostess. Prices aren't bad either, and the wine list and bar prices were very reasonable. Food presentation was lacking, but again, think of this as a nice diner on Mt. Washington and you won't be disappointed. Also there is evidently an upstairs lounge (a second bar) that might be worth checking out when it's open on busier weekends. |

05/31/2013 4:47 pmThe staff was friendly and efficient, and the food was good. My boyfriend's shrimp scampi was a bit inconsistent with the sauce and my salmon could have been better seasoned, but the quality of the products was very good and the food was cooked well. We had to choose from a select menu, so I would be interested in trying more upscale food items. |

03/24/2013 11:57 pmNEVER AGAIN!!!! We have been there before (about 3.5 years ago) and it was excellent. We had the opportunity to redeem gift certificates for there so we did and thought we would use them on a special occasion. Anyway, we went hungry expecting a great meal. Boy were we in for a terrible surprise!! To start the meal. 4 of us had the steak and potato soup. I was kind enough to keep my thoughts on that until the ride home. It reminded me of the left over fatty gel that remains about an hour after I'm done cooking a piece of meat in the slow cooker. My steak salad ($25) was not near as good as the steak salad I get for about half price at Outback. The Outback even serves house ranch, unlike here that served the crappy bottle ranch. After first bite, I switched to Balsalmic which was ok. As for the filet on it, I have had cheaper cuts of meat that were tastier and better quality. My sister did enjoy her filet, but her baked potato came with melted American cheese. Blew my mind for a restaurant on Mt. Washington! My father ordered surf and turf ($48) and returned his lobster because he said he has never seen lobster look that way before. The second one was acceptable, but again he has had much better for cheaper. My mother was also surprised that the butter served for their lobster did not come over a warmer, but served in a black plastic cup. As for the pasta tossed in garlic butter, it was literally sitting in a bowl of butter. Another steak at the table was not even warm. Another surprise was the fact they don't even serve fresh ground pepper anymore. I guess thats too expensive considering all of the empty tables that surrounded us, and I'm sure they are not getting repeat customers anymore. So anyway, while we were eating we pretty much decided we were never coming back. Unfortunately, when we went to pay the bill they would not allow us to use both gift certificates, so we handed it off to another table because it is definitely not worth another trip back. If their meal was anything like ours, that gift certificate made their night! |

02/08/2013 3:48 amIt's been many years (10+) since I've been to Georgetowne, but I remembered being impressed with the food and general atmosphere so I was looking forward to our outing. Unfortunately, both my husband I were quite underwhelmed by a meal which was valued at $80. While there was nothing technically wrong with the food, it was more on par with what we'd expect at Eat N Park. |
