I ordered the Eggplant Parmesan with Caesar Salad as a side and the "Maryland Crab cakes". Now notice how I wrote the crab cakes with the quotes, I will get to that eventually. Now, first of all I ordered online and, since it was my birthday, I decided to splurge a little. So I had received a flyer from Giovanni's, it had been delivered all over the building I live at, and I was not in the mood for Latin food, then I decided to give them a chance. I noticed the prices were high, so I thought that this was going to be a quality meal. I ordered the Eggplant parm (14.95), something I love and have eaten in many places, including home, I didn't want pasta so I ordered the Caesar salad (+$2.00) and the Crab Cakes (13.95). I was set! I paid with my debit card, something I am used to as I usually order lunch from Grubhub.
The delivery was quick, they have that on their favor. But when the got here they didn't come up, like I am used to from other delivery services and so I had to go down. Once I got down stairs I was told by the delivery guy that he needed my card. I told him I already paid and then he tells me that he needs to print it on the receipt. so I had to go back up 5 flights and get it. Then he tells me that it's good exercise and I tell him "Sure, unless you have to climb them 5 times or more a day." I tell him that they have to specify on their website because that was unnecessary. I am used to just paying and getting my food. I couldn't understand why they couldn't work the same way. I go up and decide to eat the Eggplant parm for lunch at work the next day and dive into the Caesar Salad, Crab cakes and the great Italian bread they offered as part of the meal. Now the reason I quoted the Maryland Crab Cakes is because upon opening the lid of the plate where the cakes were at it smelled fishy; crab doesn't smell fishy. My mom had half of one and she said it was good. So I went and dug in to the salad. It was meh. The dressing was store bought, made me wonder why they charged extra for lettuce, croutons and Wishbone dressing. But then the freaking cakes. They smelled fishier from up close, but I took a bite either way. Ugh! The "Crab"! It was King Krab! The one you buy for a dollar in the super market! The one that clearly specifies that its not crab but fish! I really doubt they use that in Maryland. It was gelatinous, and so soft upon biting it that it was disgusting! I was pissed because they over charge for store bought crab cakes and then they blatantly call it from Maryland. Their prices are too big for Kennedy Chicken spot quality food! It goes without saying that they were soggy, no salt, insipid and disgusting; I had to throw away 13.95!
The next day I decide to maybe give them a chance with their parm. I Took half, it was huge, and then lunch time came. Now, I didn't put Parmesan cheese, it was only the dish at is was. I took a bite and lord! How tasteless!! I know eggplant doesn't have a strong flavor but if you know how to manipulate it it can be delicious....but no....it was horrible. I don't know how they managed to make Marinara sauce taste like nothing but they did. The Mozz had more flavor, it we all know that Mozz has a mild flavor, than the whole freaking dish!! $14.95!! You can get more quality in Domino's, in Pizza Hut or any other Italian place than in Giovanni's. It pissed me off enough to actually write a review.
If you are going to order from these people keep in mind that they are over charging you, they are lazy with their food, I mean using frozen food? And they are not up to par with other places around here. If you want to have a decent Italian meal go somewhere else in Little Italy...not Giovanni's -_-

Soda was hot, and it took way too long to get our food! The wait staff is great but the kitchen is definitely too slow! Hate to wait too long! Never again!
