Love this place. House root beer is my new favourite drink, ever!. As with everywhere in Anchorage, service is wonderful. The salmon was fantastic, so too was the steak.

The atmosphere was as good as the food. The halibut was good and the mashed potatoes were phenomenal. It came with some fresh greens with a balsamic dressing that actually made one of the best restaurant salads I have ever had.

Beware of the crowds though. We came on a Monday evening in the off season and it was still packed. Most people got seated almost immediately but I cannot imagine what it would be like in the middle of the summer on a Friday night.

Our waitress was weird and seemed really out of it and was not as attentive as should be. Perhaps since we sat in the "bar area" but that is really no excuse. Just giving us weird, confused looks while we were asking questions and sort of made us feel out of place. My colleague ordered the calamari appetizer which he said was very very good. But it more or less ended there. I ordered a Glacier Blue salad or whatever it's called, which was described as mixed greens with blue cheese, grapes and very pecans. I found it quite odd then, that I was served iceberg lettuce with romaine hearts. It just didn't work with that dressing/topping combo. I promptly asked for a new salad with the same dressing and toppings but with baby spinach, and it was much better. Then came the mains. They were both prepared well - no complaints there, but my colleague's salmon basically tasted like a piece of beef steak while my ahi tuna was excessively peppered - to the point where it was most of what I was tasting.

All in all, seems like a good place to grab some drinks and maybe some lighter fare but the dinner failed to satisfy.

We had lunch at Glacier BrewHouse a couple weeks ago following a Princess cruise from Vancouver. It was a most enjoyable experience. First, I loved the lively atmosphere. Our server was Jeannie and she was friendly, helpful--just perfect. The seafood chowder was the best we've ever had. My Ahi tuna was wonderful and my husband really enjoyed his fish & chips. I wish we could find Alaska Amber Ale now that we're back home! We both highly recommend this restaurant!!
